Pelikan 400 piston removal
(Preview)
Hi all,I have a Pelikan 400 (looks like a plain 400 from the fifties, neither 400N nor 400NN), brown striped, solid brown cap and knob. It was in rotation until last week when it lost almost every drop of (red) ink in one day (stored nib-end up).As this topic was treated once or twice in this forum (and I'v...

Cartier Diabolo won't work
(Preview)
Hi I'm new to fountain pens and I inherited a Cartier that I can't get to work right. I installed a cross cartridge after a good cleaning and it wrote well for a while but then began to skip and then finally stopped. There is ink on the nip but it looks dry. I tried a bit of water on the nib to no avail. Could this...

Hi All.? I have a Sheaffer Jr. lever fill that I recently won at e-Bay.? I would like to replace the sac (I have done several sac replacements, mostly on Esterbrooks) but the more I try to find out information about the pen and the sac to use in the pen, the more confused I get.? Hi everyone, I've been away for a while. I got busy with work and other things I had to attend to so my little projects sat on my work table for a long time. Anyway, I finally got ready to assemble my Sheaffer vac fill and I can't get it to screw in. It's a tight, tight fit. I tried heating and got it in further bu...

Waterman 88 Jifmatic FP. Filling mechanism seized.
(Preview)
I have just received a Waterman 88 Jifmatic FP which must be about 40 yrs old.? It is mint and has never been used.? However, the Jifmatic "fingertip filling action" is on the stiff side.? I do not want to force it and was thinking of using a drop of very light oil, letting the pen rest for a while...

very dry Parker vacumatic
(Preview)
I have a very dry Parker vacumatic debutante. I've flushed it out with water and changed inks but it's still dry. There's no problem with the diaphragm. It takes in a lot of ink and expels it just fine. It writes, too. It's just that it's too dry to be fun to use.? So I'm thinking of knocking out the nib and fe...

Help for a newbie? Nib troubles
(Preview)
Hi Fountain penners! I am hoping someone here can offer me some advice. I have a fountain pen that is not any kind of valuable or vintage pen, but has a lot of sentimental value to me (an inscribed 21st birthday gift from my grandmother). Recently I have not been able to use it, as whenever I write with it, t...

Esterbrook M2 cap issue
(Preview)
I have an Esterbrook M2. The cap won't screw down all the way. When I remove the section, it does. So it isn't a thread issue. I look inside the cap and it seems fine. The inner cap isn't loose or anything. I'm wondering if I have the wrong inner cap or if there's something else that's wrong.?

I bought some "as is" pens cheap from ebay, one the Sheaffer Frank and I were talking about in another post. As luck would have it, the descriptions were vague, the pics were blurry, and no one was dying to get the pens.? I have 2 with stuck sections. I'm fairly certain someone used glue or some...

I'm interested in learning how to restore old pens. So I've been reading online and trying to find tools and materials locally. Platinum PG-200 / Dry writer

I own a Platinum PG-200 (a Japanese pen with a short body and LAAAARGE cap in order to be used posted). The nib looks similar to the one in my Capless/VP (if not the same...). It is quite a dry writer. Question: How do I am supposed to disassemble this (pretty large) section? I have already tried the usual t...

Reblackening hard rubber
(Preview)
Hi all, ??? I own some HR pens, and some among them are fading a little bit. I have read about the re-blackening process, the polishing method, and so. I know that both of them most probably mean that you are altering the pen (by either removing material from it or by chemically altering the surface mater...

Hi all, ??? I was trying to smooth a Conklin nib yesterday. Hi all, I've just got a Kaweco piston filler, with a "Warranted ... " nib. Piston works smoothly (but not freely!) but does not fill at all. Not a single bubble expelled when working with it. Cork most probably needs replacement. Piston driving assembly seems to be just screwed from the top...

Is it possible to repair a cartridge converter?

I have a nice Picasso pen, which I would like to give to my daughter to use as a school pen. The converter that came with it does not hold ink. It does not suck up much ink and as soon as it is removed from the bottle the ink runs out. None of my other converters fit this pen. It is some sort of odd size and when I gav...
