Waterman 88 Jifmatic FP. Filling mechanism seized.
Permalink Closed

I have just received a Waterman 88 Jifmatic FP which must be about 40 yrs old.  It is mint and has never been used.  However, the Jifmatic "fingertip filling action" is on the stiff side.  I do not want to force it and was thinking of using a drop of very light oil, letting the pen rest for a while, then trying to move the metal flap with gentle persuasion.

Anyone experienced a similar problem and have any suggestions which may be better than what I am considering doing ?

Looking forward to your suggestions and remedies.

Thanks.

If it's not opening, the sac has hardened/ossified. Don't force it or you can break the flag/door. Send it off to a pensmith for restoration if you don't feel comfortable handling the job yourself.
