Hi I'm new to fountain pens and I inherited a Cartier that I can't get to work right. I installed a cross cartridge after a good cleaning and it wrote well for a while but then began to skip and then finally stopped. There is ink on the nip but it looks dry. I tried a bit of water on the nib to no avail. Could this be the ink? I did order a converter and a bottle of Diamine ink in the hopes that it's just the cross ink that's the problem.
It is most likely a case of the Cross cartridge not fitting the pen. I believe that Cross has a "proprietary" cartridge, which means only Cross pens will be able to use it without any leaks/ seating problems/ etc... I think Cartier uses standard type cartridges/converters (Waterman/Montblanc/etc..).
If you ordered a converter for the Cartier pen (which is a standard type cartridge- I believe), then you should be able to use that pen with no problems!
Hope this helps!
Regards,
Frank
