Bexley Original Burgandy Pearl
(Preview)
I have owned this pen since 1993. (Bexley Original in Burgandy Pearl) It is numbered 46. I have no earthly idea of its worth or whether there is a market for it. It is in excellent condition. Where can I find such information? Thanks for any help. Tom Old Surf City, NC Judgetlo@aol.com

goodbye life-long warranty!

Parker pens used to have life-long warranty. When I recently browsed their website, I noticed that the international warranty has been reduced to TWO years. When buying a Jotter this may not be problem, but a Duofold is a different story....

The St Dupont Ellipsis.
(Preview)
Another of the pen models from ST Dupont is the Ellipsis and for this one a short digression into the vagaries of common languages. In English Ellipsis usually refers to the literary convention for omitted material, often the three consecutive periods. In this case though it is the feminine plural o...

The irony of limited editions
(Preview)
I was just doing a pass over on another board and just had to share the irony. There's a pen that is touted as one of a kind since there is only one...now. But there is nothing to say that another can't be made. I am sure the artist would be happy to be paid to make another and the company would love to crank out...

Pen size comparisons.
(Preview)
Just for fun I thought I'd compare some pens by width, broken down into three somewhat reasonable categories, thin, medium and large. There are of course some pens that are even larger, like the venerable MB 149, Pelikan 1000 and the Omas Magnums and Dupont Xtra Large, but I'll save that for another da...

Filling out my collection
(Preview)
After a rather fast and loose year and a half of exclusive fountain pen use, I'm coming to terms with a few things as I build a collection. Here are some thoughts, and I wouldn't mind picking the collective brain for ideas going forward. I don't really think of myself as a collector, per se. I don't need...

Pelikan Pens - why are they hard starters?
(Preview)
My only qwery for the newer pens is surrounding Pelikans. I've heard so much about them being hard starters and then I purchased a 650 with a broad nib. It was a hard starter so I sold it in favor of a nice medium. Guess what!? Also a hard starter - meaning it doesn't start writing when put to paper.

ST Dupont Gatsby
(Preview)
ST Dupont is a late comer to the world of fountain pens. They first entered the luxury pen market in the early 1970s with a line of elegant, slim ball points called the "Classique". Soon they added a matching fountain pen. The pens of the period were generally slim and the ST Dupont Classique...

A question regarding stubs
(Preview)
Hello all! Well, I'm thinking of having one of my pens nibs' reground into a stub, but I have a couple of questions first. I like the thinner lines, my favourite pen writes a thin F, and I find my other current daily writer, which is an M, a bit on the fat side. The asian-M nibs are about as fat a line as I'd like...

Laban Customer Service!
(Preview)
I just got my Laban Wood Pen back from Laban Service. The barrel had a stress crack in it starting from the metal threading. It looks like I got a new barrel; I had to double check everything to see if it was a whole new pen! I can see that the section and nib were my old parts, as well as the cap. But I am pleased...

What if fountain pens had continued to evolve?
(Preview)
As far as I can tell, with the exception of filling systems, fountain pens have not changed much. I know that we have tried different feeds, filler tubes, lucky curves, etc. But what could we have if we applied modern technology to fountain pens? I am thinking of some of the kick ass hand crafted four t...

Taccia Nibs
(Preview)
My question is how fine (wide) a Taccia F nib actually is. I have a stock Pelikan F which I bought from Richard Binder, which is a bit broad for my taste. I love my Pilot F nibs, and even my Pilot 78G M nib is nearly as fine as my Pelikan F. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks. Donnie
