I'm asking for help with evaluating prices for a couple of Waterman pens. These pens belonged to the former owner's ex-wife and have hardly been used, so all of them are in a really "as new" -conditions, though dipped. My purpose is to sell these pens either here or at the Fountain Pen Network, so I depend on you with evaluating the price, be objective!
1. Waterman Lady Agathe Fountain Pen I've been browsing the internet to estimate this pen's value, and the price range varies a lot. Some auctioneers ask up to almost 400 USD for this pen, some significantly less. This has to be of some value, since it is in pristine condition with the ceramic tube, all the original papers and brochures and, of course, the original box.I gave the pen a rinse and tested it; the 18k Ideal fine nib writes absolutely beautifully, it's soft and generous.A real joy to write with, not to mention to behold.Image below:
2. Waterman Preface Set, a Fountain Pen, a Ballpoint and a Pencil This set of three is in brownish red marble colour and, like the Lady above, in prefect working condition with no scratches or dings on any of the pens. The fountain pen got a rinse from me too, and writes flawlessly and smoothly.(The funny thing with the Lady and the Preface FP is, that the Lady has a fine nib and the preface a medium, yet they write a line very similar in width.Even the feel with these two nibs is very much the same, both feel solid but smooth with virtually no flex.)
OK, so here are the pens. Hopefully this kind of post does not create annoyance among you, my purpose is not to rip off on Waterman enthusiasts' expertise but merely to ask some guidance.Thank you! Oh, one more thing: the pens are already for sale if they caught someone's eye :)
Hello. Did you ever sell the Lady Agathe and if not, can you please let me know if it is the blue and violet one? (or are the non-violet colors green and/or grey?) Thank you.
Hi, I did sell the Agathe. The Preface set has been hanging around ever since, no one seems to be interested in it even though I've posted it for sale several times for a reasonable price.I think the Agathe wasn't the blue/violet one, mine had more like greenish shades in it.
