Waterman CF fountain pen. Minus cartridge or converter.
Permalink Closed

Bought a 9 carat gold Waterman CF pen, which did not have a cartridge or converter with it.  I have located a stationery shop here in the UK which has a converter for the pen, and the price quoted is £20, which is almost what I paid for the pen itself.  Will that price be about right ?

I know there are 2 different sized converters for Waterman pens. A 2nd Waterman pen has the converter fitted, but its neck is too wide to fit the gold Waterman. The original type of ink cartridge fitted was the one with a metal cap on the base/end of the cartridge.

Does anyone in FPC have a photo of the converter which will fit the gold pen, so that I can be positive I am buying the correct converter ?

Thanks in anticipation and hope.

Hi, What does CF mean? £20 sounds steep for a converter. Waterman converters I've seen online sell for less than $10.

jor412, CF stands for cartridge fill.  Apparently the original cartridges are hard to come by, not being made nowadays, and old ones, even when empty, are selling for several £s, just for 1 old/empty cartridge.

There are 2 different sizes of the ink converter, and the type I am after is also hard to find. The stationers here in the UK have a new one( ie the £20 one) but I want to be sure it is the right, correct one, before sending for it.

Problem sorted out. Waterman converters for the CF pen, and the modern Waterman pen look identical in size and shape. However, the converter for the CF pen range has a narrower neck, about 2mm difference in diameter. So be sure of buying the correct one for the CF range.
