Hi all I recently purchased two older, but beautiful, fountain pens of the 60's vintage, which write, but run out of juice when writing reasonably fast: I am comparing them to my modern Waterman that writes quiet quickly with a good flow of ink at the same pace. My questions being, I am wondering if there is old dried up ink clogging up their workings, inhibiting their flow rate? Or is there a part that needs replacing or restoration kit? Are these pens worth doing up in the sense of they are nice pens, or should they be retired? I know nothing about the inner workings of a fountain pen. In anticipation thanking all kindly.
Okay slight improvement. What then would your next step be?
I assume, replace the plastic feeding mechanism that also supports the nib? Which might be difficult in getting replacements for these 1960 pens? Or is there a common part? Or even a better option?
