Waterman cartridges
Permalink Closed

I have a couple of boxes of Waterman cartridges. They are straight, except for one thickened section (as if it had a translucent plastic very wide band). The point is: These are certainly not the International/European ones, as they are just straight (without the band), but they don't fit my CF either. The logo in the box seems to be the modern french one.

I know that a picture will be better than the above poor description, and I'll add one as soon as I figure out how it is done, but someone within this forum may be familiar with them.

Thanks.

Hi all,

Here you have the pics. They don't fit my CF (and they are French), but they are different from the ones we can get nowadays (shown in the picture), the "long international" in this particular case.

They shouldn't be very old, as there is still liquid ink inside, but certainly not the newest ones either.

Anyone around knows if I have to take any special care with them? They seem to fit modern Watermans without trouble (though haven't yet tested them for real)?

TIA.

Martin

They are certainly strange ones. Can't help I fear. The logo on the box though looks like the logo popular about the time the Concord was introduced and so they may be a transitional series during the change from the CF type slim cartridge to the more modern international.

How does the diameter of the feed hole compare?

one on the top is a modern post 1983 waterman cartridge and the one on the bottom is a pre 1983 cartrdige which might fit the c/f or the watermania but non suitable to modern watermans made after 1982.

Georges,

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware that there was a "break" in 1982. I was expecting them to be somewhat newer, as there is still liquid ink inside them (quite a lot, in fact, they are more than 3/4 filled). It seems that some plastics are less porous than others.

This cartriges certainly don't fit my CF (maybe because they are French, and my CF is US American, but not sure about it). They might fit my modern Watermans, but I haven't yet tried them. Without punching the hole they seem to fit OK, but I might get a bad surprise when I actually try to use them. If they just don't fit, this will be a bad news. If they fit, but they become leaky or anything, this would be even worse.

Thanks again.

Martin
