The Fountain Pen Community is giving away a pen from Edison Pens!
Brian Gray, President of Edison Pens, has generously provided a pen for the give-away! The pen is an Edison Huron model, in the Tortoise Flake Acrylic material. Pen has a two-tone medium point. This pen has a retail value of $250!!
To help celebrate our fifth anniversary, and help offset overdue board costs/expenses, we are going to send this pen to a lucky TFPC member! We are a member driven community, and we rely on member contributions to keep The Community active!
To enter the drawing, you simply contribute $10 to the board! Click on the Contribute tab at the bottom of the main board page. You will be directed to the Activeboard donation page, where you can make the donation. A confirm email will be sent to you, and the admin at TFPC will also be notified. A drawing number will then be assigned to you by the admin by email, and this number will be used in the drawing! We will have the drawing on June 14th, the official fifth anniversary here at TFPC! We need at least 40 people to participate, and donate said amount. You are free to donate more, and you will receive a drawing number for each $10 amount you donate!
This give away is open to members of TFPC who contribute said amount to board dues. The admin of The Community (Frank/DWL) are not eligible in this pen drawing. Adjustments to the June drawing date and/or number of participants are subject to change. The pen is provided to The Community by Edison Pens for the purpose of giving the item to the winning member of the drawing. Drawing will take place, and pen will be shipped to the winning member. Any changes or requests for changes and/or adjustments to pen will then be the responsibility of winning member and Edison Pens.
Please refer to The Rules forum topic of The Community for more information and explanation of board policies/regulations. Furthermore, You expressly understand and agree that neither we nor the makers of the Community area software nor Edison Pens shall be liable under any circumstances to you whatsoever for any loss or damage of whatever nature suffered by you in connection with your use of the Community areas.
Good Luck!!

We sell quality, known brands at reasonable prices!!
When you do contribute, putting your username in the entry box makes it easier to send the confirm! I can see who is contributing! But, this makes it easier (Putting your full name is optional- no problem either way!)
Thanks! Frank

Lets go gang, give us some feedback. What do you think?
For what it's worth, we only have 4 entry's thus far, so your odds of winning are high. Even if we get the 40 entry's we would like those are still pretty sweet odds to win a superb pen. If this comes off like Frank & I hope, this could become a regular event here at TFPC. We are a community driven site & this can only work if you participate.
Frank, this was an incredible idea.
Brian, thanks for being a stand up guy & helping us out.
Community, thanks for being here.
Have a great day TFPC!

Great idea! I recently ordered an Edison Pen through the folks at the Goulet Pen Company and I would certainly love to get another! Brian sent out a note concerning the contest and here I am. I think this is the first time that I have been on this board so looking forward to clicking around :) $10 is a pretty small amount to help sustain the site!

Just donated $20. I have not posted before, but I do read the board and appreciate the work you all put in to keep it happening. Myra Love aka Red Ripple

At 7PM est time I did the drawing. The winning ticket drawn was #10024, and that is member VNH (Vickie H)!!
Congrats to Vickie!!
I want to take this time to thank everyone who participated in the contest, and to Brian from Edison for making it all possible! We took in nearly $350 in the contest! We had 25 members contribute!!
We did fall short of the goal of $400, but it was still a success! Our board dues are less than one year behind now! We still owe $200 in past dues- they were $500 past due! Our board fees here are more than $20 per month ($24-25), so PLEASE remember to help out and keep TFPC running!
We will consider events like this in the future! It was a great way to increase board interest and membership! It was a great way to catch up on board fees. Activeboard is the parent company, and they have been generous to us in the past! I'm not sure they would let us sink two years behind again!
Congrats again to Vickie. I have sent her a mail, as will ship it to her when she contacts me! I did record the event on my digital camera, but it is 4 minutes long. I was not able to upload it here (more than 300 mb). My Flickr account will also not allow me to upload files that large! Contact me if you want to see it and/or have a better way of posting it here!
Thanks! Frank

I'm thrilled to be the winner of your drawing to celebrate your 5th anniversary. I had been coveting the Edison/Chatterly Huron Grande in ivory celluloid that I saw a few years ago (but was too cheap/frugal to buy) so I'm very pleased to own my first Edison pen.
I have also contributed an additional $20 (via Paypal to the same email address used for the drawing) towards the fees that have accumulated to keep this site running. Thank you for all of your time and efforts to maintain this site so we who love fountain pens don't feel so alone in the world.
I received my beautiful new pen last night. I planned to scan my handwritten review but it just didn't look dark enough. So...here's my typed review.
EDISON HURON - TORTOISE FLAKE ACRYLIC
I want to thank Brian Gray, President of Edison pens, who generously donated this beautiful pen.
This is my first experience with an Edison Pen and my first acrylic pen of this quality. Since many of my pens have a solid color barrel, I love the depth of the autumn colors which reminds me of fall leaves. The size is similar to my MB 146 (which is my favorite size). There is an unexpected tapering of the barrel which makes it very comfortable to hold. The cap is not meant to be posted, which is fine with me because I rarely post the cap. It has a very nice weight; not too heavy and not as light as I thought it might be. The Huron uses a Schmidt converter and I immediately filled it with Noodler's Kiowa Pecan which looks lovely with the colors in the barrel. Although I usually prefer gold nibs, this steel nib glides across the paper smoothly with no absolutely no skipping or ink flow problems.
The quality and beauty of this pen has propelled it to the top of my rotation, and not just because it's my newest pen.
Again, I want to thank The Fountain Pen Community, Brian Gray, and Frank (for mailing it so promptly so I could enjoy it ASAP).
Best wishes always,
Vickie
