A quick hello from the UK. Joined yesterday, activated this noon; then found I had initially misplaced username and password. Found it after 5 mins, so I am 'up and running.'

I have Parkers, Sheaffers, and a couple of Watermans, but am now getting interested in the Dunhill fountain pen range. I have searched the makerforums, but cannot find Dunhill. Where should I post to find out more re the Dunhill range ?

Thanks, and replies awaited.

Ditto what Frank said. I'd love to see pics & hear about your collection/tastes.

Thank you both for the welcome. Now the bad news - the Dunhill pen I was waiting for has not arrived. Mail arrived this morning, and the envelope had been sliced open, and the pen removed. I am afraid that the Royal Mail, here in the UK is not up to the standard it once was. (many years ago.) Having bought the pen off ebay, it is not the money I will miss, but the pen itself as it certainly looked a very good one, and in a looked after condition. As it was a 'sign for' mail, the Postman was there so is able to confirm that it was sliced open and the item missing.

Man that really sucks. I'm sorry for the loss.

That is awful! Is there any insurance on the package?
Did you inform the seller/ebay?

The package was recorded, and also to 'sign for'. Any claim has to be made by the sender, and not the recipient. I have sent the seller 2 emails, one to his private email address, and the other through ebay. After 24 hrs there is no reply to either, but possibly he could be away for the weekend. Advice I have been given is to wait until Monday, 17th Oct then start to pursue this matter through Paypal.

The pen was a gold coloured Dunhill fp, but until I received it I would not have been able to tell if it was gold coloured; gold plated, or gold. Seller has 6 sales to his credit with 100% rating. My bid was 26, and I am just wondering if after the auction he began to realise the possible true value of the pen. His posting for the pen showed that he knew very little about it, or fp's. There are not many 'cheap' Dunhill fp's, are there ?

A couple of weeks back I acquired(ebay) a gold coloured Waterman CF pen, and when it arrived I was dumbfounded to see that it was 9 carat gold pen. Value about 80-100. Glad that did not go astray in the mail. At the moment I am having doubts about buying such items, and having them sent through the post.
