I have a 51 Vac DJ demonstrator (original parts in a Kullock replica plastics) which is a low starter. Every time you let it rest for a while, you have to tap it several times until ink reaches the nib again. Once it starts writing, line is on the wet side, though.
I don't have a diagnosis yet (I might be phoning G. House MD...). The interesting thing about a Demonstrator is that I can see that if I store the pen a short while nib up, I can see collector's ribs touching the section. And if I tap the paper until ink goes back to the nib I can see the collector as a solid piece (full of ink). This would make more sense (and be uglier...) if the pen had a leak in the body, expelling air and letting the ink back inside it, but it is not the case.
Any clue of what should I look for?
TIA
Martin

It's cool that you can see the collectors intact with the demo. This is one of the reasons why I like demos myself in general. I thought the purpose of the collectors is to retain ink no matter what position the pen is in! I guess all is seated correctly? You should be able to see if there is a "gap" between the section (collectors), and the pen body inside. It sounds more like that may be the problem, or a problem with fit somewhere. I think you would know if there was a crack with ink leaking somewhere!
