I was just jotting down a list of pens I'd like to take for a spin some day and I noticed something fishy:

"51" (Parker)
#76 (Edison Pens)
88 (Aurora)
146 (Montblanc)
Bexley 2006 Owner's Club

This in addition to my already somewhat obscenely numbered collection of Lamy 2000s and Pelikan 600s and 800 and Hero 329.

confuse

Marketing people have something with trends. With pens (and cars, BTW) there was a trend of model names with numbers (specially european ones). Right now, most of the cars (and pens) have mostly meaningless words. They even study about meaningless words that "seem-to-be" something specific on most well spread languages.

Lots of exceptions, of course.

It's easier to think up a new number than a new name. As well you don't have that language problem! With THE Pelikan the numbers even make sense!
