Marketing people have something with trends. With pens (and cars, BTW) there was a trend of model names with numbers (specially european ones). Right now, most of the cars (and pens) have mostly meaningless words. They even study about meaningless words that "seem-to-be" something specific on most well spread languages.
Lots of exceptions, of course.
