WTB: Nib gaskets(Point Seals) for Snorkel
Permalink Closed

Looking for a couple of Sheaffer Snorkel nib gaskets (point seals).
I'm in the middle of my first Snork repair! I only need one (or two) at this point.
Not looking to buy 10 or 20!

I can buy them, or offer other items in trade: O-rings (I do have a good bit),
Estie NOS nib(2556/1554), or a couple of ink carts! Let me know!
Send me a PM here, or mail at franklimper@hotmail.com.

Thanks!
Frank

Thanks Dennis & Mike for the info!

Pendemonium is always a great source!

I did not think of Tryphon, good price for them there!
I'm always hearing about going there for new J-Bars!
BTW, I just save good bars from donor J pens!

Thanks!
Frank

Frank:
Not sure which is the Snorkel o-ring you need, having never yet restored one, but came across BIN of $1.25 each [not sure if that's a good price either] or bid listing for same on Large and Small on the bay this morning.

Sheaffer Small O-ring for snorkel and touchdown

Sheaffer Large O-ring for tuckawaya and fat touchdown
EDIT: fixed Link, I think...

S&H @ $2 each obviously drives total cost up, but if you need both maybe they'll combine shipping?
Hope that helps, is/are what you're looking for, not fully awake yet.
Haven't looked at what Tryphon sells them for either, been awhile since going there to buy parts so don't recall the cost nor number in their kits.

Or is it the point gasket, not an o-ring but a "hockey puck" looking thing with a hole in the middle?

Point Gasket here.

Scott,

Glad to see you back here!

Yes, the point seal is the "hockey Puck" with the pin hole in the center.
The snorkel rod goes through it into the feed to make a seal up front.
This is in addition to the O-Ring in the back like a TD pen.

This is my first Snorkel repair. I have done a few TD repairs, but had never tried Snorks before. I did not need a large amount of the point seals. Tryphon was the best bet! I got two sets (8 total) for $3 w/shipping! Their prices on O-rings, and these seals are tough to beat!

Well, I wanted to report that I completed my first Snorkel fix!

What an ordeal.............. (LOL)

It works great, and after about three hours, and taking it apart more than once to put it back together, it sure better! smile.gif
Will I do another? SURE, but I'm in no hurry!
