That's what a pen company that I worked with thought but it wasn't quite so with the materials that came in contact with it.

The only 2 materials coming into contact with the adhesive are a soft rubber grommet & a borosilicate (pyrex) glass.

Best of Success with your Savage Pen Company venture.  Can't wait to see some of your creations.

I'm too much of an engineer so I'd better just stop thinking and wait until some pics of the final pen are out there.  Although dropping a pen with a glass ink reserviour sounds interesting.

Intriguing ... I like the "cage" in the fourth image, but it would be a bitch to assemble: you'd have to have right-hand threads on one end of each rod, and left-hand threads on the other, and tighten all six rods simultaneously. You might consider brazing or peening your rods to their end plates instead.

Definitely want to see photos of the prototype(s).

I sure hope so. My machinist STILL isn't answering his phone & no one at the shop. I really hope he's ok.

I am so unbelievably underwhelmed by this afternoons meeting.

I finally met up with my machinist.

Oh kids....The prototype was so incredibly bad.

It looked NOTHING like the designs we had laid out.

He flat refused to A) think B) listen to what I wanted C) talked down to me. This clown is done. I have a couple of appointments with other local shops tomorrow with better equipment. They are a bit more expensive in all aspects, but I think will be a lot more reliable. Either way, this screws me but good for a minute and puts me behind. I'm supposed to have working prototypes (pen and storage/display box) and taking pre orders and entering into full production by now!

GGRR! I hate being behind schedule!

No, and it's going to be a bit longer still.

The prototype I picked up was so far removed from what I designed and asked for I was sick.

It's not all dark and bad news though.

~I have a meeting later this morning with a new C & C guy who has MUCH MUCH better equipment & is in all likelihood where I should have started to begin with. He's a local boy with serious skills & unless I miss my guess he's also a fellow Freemason. Which is always a good thing IMHO.

On the 'accessory' front.

~I did get my leather pen case/holster prototype back & thankfully it is EXACTLY what I was asking for. Oh me boy-o's, you should see it..mmm-mmm-mmm!
From the research I've done, there aren't any like this on the market, nor can I find evidence of anything similar ever being made.

~The first order of 25 neolithic obsidian knives are completed and ready to ship. WOOT!!

~50 bottles of custom 'Savage Green' ink are blended and ready. ( I LOVE this deep rich green)

~I don't have the storage/display box in yet, but I have seen the progress on it & it's REALLY coming together.

Whispers...
How does a 'pen box' (roughly 12" x 9" x 9") that 'transforms' into a 12" x 9" x 15" tall, lighted, glass walled display~box grab your interest?

So yeah...it's all coming together & looking very nice.

I've spoken with 2 retailers with brick & mortar stores and 4 online that want to carry my lines. (depending of course, on the final product being up to par). Keep a close eye on things folks. When this Juggernaut hits the ground, it's going to be at full speed and nothing is going to slow it down.

I forgot to mention my 'leather guy'.

If anyone here has a fancy for cowboy boots you may know the name Joe Patrickus. Here's a very brief bio on him.

http://books.google.com/books?id=w9yURkjK1D8C&pg=PA118&lpg=PA118&dq=Joe+Patrickus++endowment+for+the+arts&source=bl&ots=cZtLy19Doe&sig=Sc0YC2qir0s--dYoiwVleztg0-U&hl=en&ei=oe9HS972MYHSNaOfhJAJ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CAkQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=Joe%20Patrickus%20%20endowment%20for%20the%20arts&f=false

I had no idea there was such a rare craftsman right down the street from me. I went and spoke with him again today for a couple of hours at his shop and had a blast! The pen holster/case hes designed for me is mind blowing!

I am honored and humbled to have Joe and his sons working with me on this project.

Art, function and master craftsmen throwing down and doing their thing, how can this project go wrong?!!

I want to show everyone pics, but that would blow the 'great unveiling' in LA.

...so I ain't gonna...lol

Dennis,

Thanks for the good news. It is wonderful that you have both found your "best man" for your pen, and that your pen box (yes: It is VERY interesting for us!) is ready.

Keep us in touch!

Rgds.

Yup, a new style of pen case that I cant recall seeing before. It very well may be the first time it's been done. I cant express how honored I am to have Joe Patrickus and his family working with me on this.
