Cool, I learn-ed me something new today, thanks Frank! Hmmm, seems there's gotta be some way to modify some part, the inner pen barrel or carts, but what do I know, I've never owned any Wearevers, at least not yet.

Actually now I think about it my grandmother (or whoever she got the pen off) had used it without any cartridge... there was a very large blue cloud when I soaked it then undid the barrel ;)
It doesn't have a breather hole so I'll probably just go that way, although the possibility of leaks kinda makes me nervous
Pack the threads with silicone grease (not sealer!) before you fill it, then just wipe the excess grease off after you've screwed the barrel back on; it works great. Note that 100% silicone grease is recommended because it's as neutral as you can get to the materials used in fountain pens; petroleum-based products such as Vaseline can potentially do a lot of damage to some plastics and especially to the hard rubber/"Ebonite" of the older pens.
Glad to help; I've done this with several pens, and it allows for an enormous amount of ink. Be aware that pens with thinner-walled barrels will tend to "blurp" when they get low enough on ink that the air inside expands from the heat of your hand.
a burgundy Ta Tung "366" Made in China jobbie with a gold coloured cap band and clip.
I'd tried before (denting the very-thin breather tube thingy in the process) but when I'd reassembled it and filled it wouldn't go after the ink in the nib was used
Just now pulled it apart, carefully re-sited the feeder behind the nib, then held them in the opening of the next bit thingy while rotating slowly so I could feel the recess for the nib- found it, and gently pushed the two home.
Now it is filled and it works.... kinda scratchy though- sounds like I'm using a quill pen ;)
Doesn't write as nicely as the Osmiroid 75 I got going previously
My first pen (the one I was going to blame the mess on, at 13 years old) was a Mentmore like the two on the right of the picture on this page- with the horizontal lines, and an odd hooded nib, and a button filler.
Nothing to blush over at all m'dear. Mentmore's are awesome pens.
I have the rose/burgundy marbled celluloid model in that pic sitting on my desk right now. I retrofitted it with a generous medium semiflex 2 tone sheaffer #5 feathertouch & is one of my all time favorite pens. Mines a button filler though & not a lever like the one in the pic. I LOVE the color & is almost the perfect size for my hand.

It was a dark burgundy brown and wasn't very long so I'd use it with the cap stuck on the end- surprisingly since I thought the weight of the silver cap would be too much- but found I wrote way better with it on the end.
Very smooth nib but I can't remember what it was ;) I do remember puzzling over how it would be disassembled to change the nib
