I'm not sure how I feel about the Dialog 3. I'm hoping there will be some to test drive at the 2010 LA Pen Show. I could see me going either way as to liking it or not. I love my VP, and I really like the Lamy brand, but the D3 promotional pictures I've seen leave me cold.
I actually don't mind that it is the same gold nib and feed as the Studio. To me, that means it is coming with proven technology. I had a Studio for a piece, but it was only a SS nib.
That price though... the same as an Italian beauty, a custom Edison, or a proven Pelikan...
Have tried this pen and it is gorgeous. The nib is lovely, exactly the same as the studio gold nib which is brilliant anyway. The pen is really big (like a large cigar) but amazingly well balanced and not too heavy. It sells for about £180 which is a fair price for what you get. Think it will appeal to the male market more though which limits it. If they had made it slightly more slender this would have helped.
If you look at the Dialog 1 and 2 it is a progression and Bauhaus to the extreme.
The whole concept of the Dialog series is to select a famous designer and to give him blank paper to desing a writing instrument. Each time the designer is different.
There is not connection in design between the Dialog series.
Ciao,
Really? Take a look at all three of them lined up and with a straight face say there is no connection.
Yes they are all different designers but whether intentional or unintentional there seem to be parameters that they worked within. Even that peacock feather pen looks like a Lamy.
