Sheaffer 500 TD Pen "Dolphin"- Repairs?

Hello gang!

I acquired a 500 TD pen from an estate auction.
When I got the section and barrel seperated, I saw a setup I never saw before on TD pens!
The section has a long breather tube that goes into the barrel. There was no visible way to look at/open the barrel.

So my question is, how does all of this come apart? Is there a removable sac in there I need to worry about? Does the bilnd cap unscrew from the plunger on the outside (No screw inside)?
