That's one heck of a collection, Dennis.

Incredible collection.

I studied the pictures on the Photobucket page, and I noticed that Wearever produced a ballpoint in 1976, a bicentennial product. FP production must have stopped earlier.

Thanks guys. Believge it or not thats only about 1/2 of what i had at my max. A couple of years ago I lost a box of 400/500 pens in a move from MO to FL, sold off a couple of dozen & kept a couple of my favorites.

I've not been able to find a date when FP production stopped, but with a semi educated guess I have to think it would be in the mid 1960's.

In 1971 (my birth year) Wearever (David Kahn inc.) was sold to Dixon ofDixon Ticonderoga pencil fame. The Wearever name is still alive & in production as a 'stic bic' type BP. (oh hopw the mighty have fallen...lol)

Jon, Thanks for your generous bid. I'm sorry (ish...wink) to see someone's already topped it though.

I am gobsmacked eyepopping.gif by that collection Dennis.

All those little nick-nacks that go along with the pens; not just the pens themselves.  Truly amazing.

How long have you been collecting them?

Dennis!

What happened with the "Worlds Largest Wearever Collection"?

Did it go?

Frank

The first time around it was only bid up to $1060.00 or so & didn't meet the reserve. I put it back up as a BIN only and it went for the 3K I was asking.

I saw talk of using the collection to start the american fp museum......I nearly shit myself. That would have been awesome beyond words...lol. The buyer is out of country & said they want to be the consevator of the collection, so I have hopes it won't be broken up and parted off.

Well done with the sale Dennis.  Although I'm "out of country", I am unfortunately not the new owner.  Geez, I don't know enough lawyers to deal with the matromonial problems all those pens arriving on the doorstep would cause!  LOL
'
It was a great collection.  Let's hope the museum gets up and running with some accolade given to you when it's displayed.

Gerard.
