New Delta & Chinese models

We don't usually have this much time pass
between newsletter updates, but the NY Pen
Show intervened and we've been having a hard
time keeping up with sales of the Dollar
brand http://www.hisnibs.com/dollar.htm piston pens. So...sorry for its length!

We have several new models from Delta,
including additions to the Capri line and the
Dolcevita line.

We're also introducing new Chinese pens from
Jinhao and Duke, new colors for the
Monteverde Artista Perma line as well as new
pen roll
patterns from Lai Yee.

Delta Capri Marina



In an earlier newsletter we introduced the
spectacular limited edition Delta Capri Blue
Grotto http://www.hisnibs.com/capribluegrotto.htm series of pens.

Now, the Capri line has been extended with
the Marina his and hers
pens....the Marina Grande and the
Marina Piccola.

From Delta's description: Marina Piccola
for her in a light blue resin
and Marina Grande for him in a dark blue sea
color. The Capri writing instruments are made
of special resin worked by hand from solid
bars and polished to a mirror like surface in
colors chosen to match the distinct and
characteristic blue of this island.

The central ring of the Marina Piccola and
Marina Grande are also carved by hand and are
in 925% solid sterling silver and portrays a
classic Icon from Capri. In the cap's
extremity a carved plaque offers a replica of
the famous timepiece from Capri's main
piazza.

New Delta Dolcevita Slim



The newest addition to the Dolcevita line is
so new that I haven't even seen it yet.
They've just arrived at YAFA, Delta's U. S.
importer, and this is more of a heads-up
announcement than a detailed description.

Basically, the Slim is designed to more
closely match the Medium in length, but
retain the slimness of the Mini. There's sure
to be a Dolcevita that's just right for you!

Delta Dolcevita Papillon



The Delta Dolcevita Papillon is not a
new Dolcevita model, but I haven't previously
stocked it.

The Papillon is a real
departure for the line. It's a stunningly
modern fountain pen design, coupled with the
black and terracotta beauty of all of the
Dolcevita pens.

Delta Dolcevita Stout



Here's another Dolcevita model that I've used
for years, but only recently added to my stock.

The Stout is perhaps my most used Dolcevita.
It's such a convenient size, it will fit most
anywhere, but it retains much of the girth of
the larger pens, which I find extremely
comfortable.

Delta Dolcevita Mini



The Dolcevita Mini is a diminutive pen at
4-3/8" capped, but a perfectly comfortable
writer at 5" when posted. It joins the Oversized http://www.hisnibs.com/oversized.htm,
Piston http://www.hisnibs.com/piston.htm,
Medium http://www.hisnibs.com/medium.htm,
etc. in providing a Dolcevita option that
perfect for someone!

Delta Dolcevita Desk Pen....last one!



As the Dolcevita line continues to expand,
YAFA has decided to no longer import two of
the models. I have one each left -- both with
medium nib -- so the first firm "I want it!"
gets it.

First up is the divine desk pen set. This is
the single fountain pen version (lower left
in the photo above), the same one
I use daily on my desk, as can be seen in the

Delta Dolcevita Soiree Undersized....last one!



Like Batman and the Dark Knight, Delta's
Dolcevita line has had it's own darker
side...the Soiree. Identical in size and
construction to the Dolcevita Undersized and
Medium, Delta took the iconic terracotta
orange and used it as a subtle color
highlight in the Soiree series of pens.

Jinhao Evening Stripes



I thought of calling this the 'Big Purple
Torpedo'...but then I calmed down. Measuring
5-7/8" capped, 5-1/8" cap aside, and a full
6-1/2" with cap posted...this is a large pen.
With its girth and lacquer-over-brass
construction, posting the cap is not
something that comes naturally with this pen.
It will post, but wasn't really designed with
that in mind, as the barrel end primarily
rests on the cap threads, not a conventional
inner cap.

The pen's classic torpedo shape is coupled
with that most elusive -- and therefore
popular -- of all fountain pen
colors....PURPLE! Admittedly, it's just a
hint of purple in combination with those of
the blue and black stripes, but
still....PURPLE! Well, ok, maybe some would
say lavender -- but it's close.

DUKE Bamboo



The most versatile grass plant in the world
-- and certainly the Panda Bear's favorite --
finds its way into making the barrel of the
gorgeous DUKE Bamboo fountain pen.

This is a full-sized model, measuring 5-3/4"
capped, 5" with cap aside, and a humungous 7"
with its cap posted. The pen is light enough
that posting the cap is not unreasonable, but
certainly not necessary for a comfortable fit
in the hand.

New Monteverde Artista Perma colors




Joining the original refillable blue
permanent marker, the Perma line has now
expanded with Smokey Gray and
Black & Gold versions.

The Monteverde Perma refills will mark, write
and draw on surfaces such as: Plastic, Cd's,
Metal, Glass, Glossy Photographs, Books,
Foil, Wood, Coated Paper, and many more hard
to mark surfaces.

In a nod to the ancient history of the 60's,
Lai Yee introduces the Tie Dye pen roll.



Going even further back into time, she also
offers the Mah Jongg pattern.
