This is always a fun one, mostly because it really REALLY shows just what we really favor day-to-day...if we are honest...and being TRUE AND STURDY FP users, we of course would NEVER stoop to chicanery...like they do on SOME FP sites...

Okay...I'll dip my big toe...the one WITH the nail...in the water first...

2 Vacs-a green striated Demi and a silver-striated standard, the latter with WILLIAM WRIGHT engraved on it...belonged to my father

2 Visconti-a Van Gogh and an Airline Special

1 Liangbo Flip nib (F/M)

1 Parker Centennial

1 Waterman Carene

1 Cross Matrix

1 Hardin

Don't ask me what is in them...other than in the Van Gogh (FPN Gallileo) I can't remember...)

Oh, I think I got a Sheaf Legacy ink, but I don't remember where I put it...

I've got 5 pens inked this week:

Bexley Equipoise, medium nib, with Sheaffer Skrip Washable Blue
Platinum Maestro, music nib, with PR Lake Placid Blue
Vintage Sheaffer OS Balance, medium nib, with Sheaffer Skrip Melon Red
Parker 51 Aero, medium nib, with PR Lake Placid Blue
Vintage Eclipse Flat-top, flexible fine nib, with Sheaffer Skrip Washable Blue

Great writers, each and every one of them!

Ok, lets see what I have in the tray here on the desk in front of me.

~Dubbonnet Demi Skyline w/ GF cap sleeve. Medium CI.
~Franken BCHR Wahl w/ Greek Key pattern Missing the cap band, has the wrong lever & is missing the clip with the BEST semiflex stub Wahl nib I've ever used.
~Black Wearever Pennant Cartridge filler Cobverter to ED. Broad steel nib
~Minka(Colibri) that I rebuilt from the ground up & converted from C/C after the nib unit fell apart in pieces. Now an aerometric filler. (I'll do a pic spread one of these days on this pen)
~BCHR Conkjlin 20 with a sinfully sweet 14K Diamond Medal Fine.
~Striated Green Sheaffer w/ Military clip. Reground (broken tine) to a BB CI
~Black Snorkel Sentinel w/ broad triumph nib
~Black namiki VP w/ a crisp Broad Italic
~Sterling Sheaffer Imperial. Nice semiflex medium
~ Green EsterbrooK J w/ a no name Medium Stub nib unit. (possibly a Venus or American nib)
~Teal 51 Aerometric w/ Broad CI nib.

This will last a week or 3 until I "need" to change up the rotation some. But for the most part these are my favorite go to pens.

Good Morning!

Well, I never thought I'd get to this point, but I have only ONE pen inked and in my pocket today.

LAMY 2000, F nib, LAMY blue-black ink

I'm trying to limit myself to one or two pens inked at any one time because I'd like to "get to know" them in various situations.

My 2000 was my first "good" pen (bought back in the '70s) and I got sorta wistful just looking at in the case. I inked it up with some of the new FPN Dark Tulip ink that I just got.

I started having problems immediately. Flow was very inconsistent. If, for instance, I was writing 20 lines, the first line would be VERY wet (almost to the point of leaving blobs) but the next few lines would be quite dry (almost to the point of skipping). Then a wet line followed by dry lines, etc. Not very good. I cleaned the pen but got nothing out of it much.

Changed ink to LAMY blue black and the consistency in ink flow is much more consistent (but their are still some issues).

Take care.

Too many. I have way too much fun writing with many different ones. I have a Parker 51 that is really hard to beat. I also dip many of my unrestored pens.

Thats the first opinion of the Dark Tulip I've seen. If it's behaving like that in a fine nib(nibbed?) pen, I shudder to think of ahat it's like in a broad or flex nib. Is it a noodlers ink or?? Have you tried it out in any other pens yet? Whats the color like?

I just got a lot of 4 Parker 51's in from an ebay score. ($80.00 for all 4 and a 45 with a 61 cap) all have the first style Mark 1 Aerometric filler unit and BROAD NIBS!!! woo hoo!! I've got them inked up with Noodlers Midnight and Vintage Skrip Persian Rose. I have to flow & write test everything before I send it off to ebay. I couldn't be happier with these pens so far. All are butter smooth and in superb condition. 2 of the Lustraloy caps look factory fresh & the GF converging lines aint too shabby either. I haven't decided which one is replacing the Grey 51 special (broad nib, polished ss cap, black jewel) thats in the collection now. But the Black & Converging lines has been makin' serious goo goo eyes at me.......

Only got 3 pens inked at the moment:

Sheaffer Balance (circa 1930) and 1945 Parker Vacumatic - both with Parker Quink blue/black; and

Parker 51 with Montblanc Bordeaux.  VERY nice colour - just like dipping the pen in a glass of your favourite red wine and writing with it biggrin

Thats a nice daily carry trio. It'd be hard to find a more classic & reliable group than wjhat you have there. I'm not much of a Quink fan personally. It looks a bit washedout to me. However the MB Bordeaux was my signature color for years. Just beautiful.

Libell(forget the model)but it is beautiful and has dragonflies on the cap band. Of course I am looking for a Sheaffer nib that will fit itsmile Inked with vintage Sheaffer Persian Rose.

Rose striped Wearever Pacemaker with a two toned Sheaffer nib. This was the first pen I restored on my own and I love it!

Waterman 100 year pen, the cap is busted, but still hangs on! Inked with Peacock Blue(my favorite color).

That beautiful Libelle was a gift from one of our members (thanks my friend, I love it) & my bully of a wife threatened to beat me up if I didn't let her keep it in her case. I had to give it up for a little while....I fear her...lol

i'm currently using a P45 flighter that i got on ebay just yesterday and i'm trying it out with Diamine BB. i'm not too happy about the way this ink behaves. the flow on some of my pens, specially the hooded parkers, is not very good.confused

Diamine is a thicker more saturated ink & as a result in some pens, like the 45, 21, 41, 51, 61 etc it can behave oddly. If you have a bottle to dedicate to just those pens it flows strange in, you can enhance the flow by adding a drop or 2 (no more than 3) of liquid dish soap to the bottle. Stir gently to mix it in. This adds to the surficants & lubricants in the ink and eases the flow some. Now, if you use this ink in a pen with standard or heavier flow, it's going to be one juicy writin' mother trucker.

Private Reserve Tanzanite is another alternative. this stuff is pen ex lax in a bottle...lol. Makes even the most stubborn writers flow like the nile.

I pulled the Libelle out of the pen box this morning and have been snailing with it for about 4 hours. Man what a wonderful writer & so comfortable. I'm not generally a modern pen guy but I really like this one.

If you decide you want to trade that Kaiser anytime in the future. Let me know. The wife has had her eye on those for a few years but I've never got around to snagging one for her.

sorry... i like it too much now!! it took a while to get it tuned up like i wanted it. first the med nib was dry. laban sent a broad nib and dried after a couple of days sitting around. after tweak and smooth and more tweak... etc... i got it working fine.

it's a big pen!!!! my wife hates it... and i she got it for me!!! LOL... i guess she didn't know how huge it was from the pics.

anyways, i think if your wife wants one, get the gold nib!!! mine is steel!!!

She's had a few of the humongo Laban Flat Tops over the years. Hers were the models with the metal overlays AND she wrote with them posted. Those things were like telephone poles, but thats how she enjoys them. The nibs were all 14K gp steel. I've been wanting to try pne of their 14K nibs.

I've also wanted a Laban Mento in Pumpkin seed for myself. This is another of those under apprecieated co's out there with good products at fair prices.

In my current rotation:
Red Waterman Phileas, (good flow restored) Noodler's Ottoman Rose
Grey Eversharp Skyline, xf nib, Waterman South Seas Blue
Blue Stripe Pelikan 600, (going to Chartpak when empty)Waterman South Seas Blue
Blue Carbonesque Pilot Vanishing Point, f nib, Levenger's Cobalt Blue
Parker "51" Vac, Noodler's Legal Lapis

The Phileas, the Skyline, and the Pelikan are usually at work but I brought them home for the weekend. the VP and the "51" have been living at home, but the VP comes along on non-work expeditions and shopping trips.

Waiting their place in the next rotation swap are a Parker 75 and a Sheaffer Touchdown.
