How much is my First Year Parker 51 worth?

Hi All.  I was wondering just how much my first year Parker 51 is worth.  Its the stainless capped model with gold filled wedding band.  No dents though a scratch on the cap (I'll post pictures).  Everything is correct except that I had the filler swapped to the plastic one.  I still have all the correct Vacumatic parts but the plastic is more reliable to use it.  Third quarter 1941, plastic jewels.  Been thinking of selling it to be honest.

I got this thing a couple of months ago and I'm already contemplating selling it.  Nice cap without a single ding of any kind.  Correct nib etc.  I do have a later plastic Vac unit in it because I think it works better.  Still have the original working speedline setup as well.

With the original speedline filler back in it I wuldn't take less than $350.00 for it. I'd have to say it's probably closer to the $400.00 mark.

Thats a damn fine pen you have there bud.

Just my twocents.gif worth.

Yep yep yep.  I have the pen firmly in my breast pocket even as I type.  The thing is I LIKE the plastic filler better.  It's so free and un-troublesome.  It doesn't look as cool but it works better than the old style.

I've personally neve had any problems using any of the 3 styles of vac filler unit. From a repair guy standpoint I love doing the speedline & lockdown fioller units. because the cup on the business end is metal & REALLY hard toscrew up. The pelllet cups on the plastic filler units have broken on me more times than i can count over he years.

So why's it falling out of favor? Just can't dig the body style or the nibs not right for you or??

Well, the speedline hangs up just a teeny tiny bit at the bottom of the plunge.  So I had Fred pull the speedline, put it aside for the sake or originality and install a plastic one.  It works great.  Might change it back when I get tired of using it.
