Pens can't be the only thing your interested in. Lets hear about your other hobbies.

My biggest "non pen" passsion has to be spending time down on the river hunting for "Moby Cat, the great white beast of the river".  I split my time between the Osage, Missouri and Moreau rivers, all within a 30 minute drive from my house. I'be been fishing these rivers since I was old enough to hold a pole & bait my hook.

Here are a couple of shots of the Osage & some fruits of my time there.

Blue Cats from the Moreau

My daughter Jordan (10) and nathan (8) with some Channel cats from the Osage River at the base of Bagnel Dam.

The Osage River a couple miles down from the dam. I feel very fortunate to have grown up here among the lush rolling foothills of the Ozark Mountains. If you think this is pretty, you should see it in mid fall & early spring. To say it's breathtaking is an understatement.

Dennis,

Besides 9 years of pen collecting, my two other lifelong hobbies or should I say passions, are camera collecting (I specialize in East German 35mm Cameras including Exakta, Pentacon, Contax, Praktina, etc.) and all types of fishing, particularly big game fishing and fly fishing.

My wife, Enfys and I generally spend 4 to 6 months a year living on our boat, a 36' Sport Fisherman which we keep at the eastern end of Long Island.

PS - We often use bait bigger than your catfish!

OK Jack, when can I come out and play with you & the little woman?

Beautiful boat & I can only imagine how much fun it would be to live out there for a couple of months at a shot.

"PS - We often use bait bigger than your catfish!"

What are you catching with bait that huge? Great Whites?

Dennis, who's only been fishing in the ocean once & didn't catch anything.

We frequently catch large tuna (longfin, bluefin, yellowtail, blackfin, etc.), sharks (blues, threshers, makos, etc.), dorado, black marlin, the occasional swordfish and many smaller species (bluefish, striped bass, albacore, bonito, tile fish, codfish, blackfish, summer flounder, weakfish, sea bass, porgies, pollack, mackerel, etc.)

Haven't caught a great white in several years. Last one we got was in 2001, it weighed 1079 lbs. Nowhere near the record, but a huge fish, just over 16' long.

Been a serious fisherman since very young and put myself through college working as a mate on quite a few party and charter boats.

Jack

Here is a quickie video of another passion I enjoy.

The distance was about 25-30' or so. The knife is a Cold Steel Tactical Fighter model. I'm accurate up to about 50-60' or so.

What non pen hobbies do you enjoy?

Dennis
