I picked these up out of ebay last week. As soon as I saw them I knew what they were because I'd had some cross my workbench a couple of years before.
What are they?
600 Boxed, NOS piston filling ball points with interchangeable "nib/point" units. They are fairly light weight but well made. I'm not 100% sure of the manufacturing dates but at a guess I'd have to say they are from somewhere in the 50's-60's. It a standard size pen 5" capped 1/2" od cap 7/16" od barrel.
The point unit is interchangeable & will take Esterbrok, Pelikan M200, Osmiroid and other nibs like them. It's a really interesting pen in my book. Think of them as a low end Monteverde Ink Ball. (Not made by Monteverde as far as I know, the box is stamped "Made in West Ggermany")
The ink delivery system is pretty ionteresting as well. If you look at the last pic you will see the 2 styles they used. On the orange model there is a small plastic tube filled with "fibers" that extends into the barrel from the point that wicks the ink down to the ball. On the blue model there is a thin twist of wire that also extends into the barrel and acts as an ink guide.
I've noticed that when I use these I need to hold the pen just like a FP at about a 45 degree angle or so, if not then the pen starts to skip some. I have to say I'm very glad I picked these up. These could even qualify as a decent sumgai buy. I only paid $157.00 plus shipping for them.
Guess what everyone I know is getting for Christmas this year...lol

do you have any more of these left in fine point? I'd like to pick a few up.
