Onoto 1202 Vacuum filler

Hi all,

I've got the pen. It lacks the nib (though I might be able to get the original one, news on this within the next few days), and filling system (plunger, washer, seals,...). It is in a nice shape, celluloid is clear, no major scratches, cracks or anything.

What would you advice? My main options right now are: 1- Get everything I lack of (no idea about the price yet) and 2- Sell as-is to someone else willing to work on it.

The main reason I avoid Onoto repair is that parts are expensive and hard to come by. There's a surprising variety of them, too, several different plunger shaft lengths, for instance. The 1202 is a Minor, if I remember aright, and will take a shorter shaft. The nib should be a 22.

If you want to keep the pen, I'd recommend contacting one of the repairers who will have a good stock of Onoto parts, Jim Marshall, perhaps, or Eric Wilson. They are very unlikely to sell you parts but they'll fix the pen for you. Otherwise what you have is a parts pen, though a moderately valuable one.

onoto is one of the harder pens to come by. WIll be interested to see the progress on this repair.

I haven't yet dared to convert it into an ED. I have not been able to find the missing parts (nib included) either, and I don't like the idea of having this pen just left in a drawer.

If anyone around is interested in the parts just let me know and we'll figure out a swap trade. I am very well aware that this pen is not worth exactly a fortune, even in case it were in working condition.
