HisNibs.com update -- Lavender Marble Veined -- and more Purple!

Greetings all,

This customer letter I received this week (thanks Sam!) got me thinking
about the color purple (great movie, wasn't it?), as Lai Yee also came up
with some new purple and lavender pen roll materials. By the way, you can
see a larger version of the letter here
http://hisnibs.com/images/Miscellaneous/Purple_Sam.jpg.

Brand new is the Hero Lavender Marble Veined
http://hisnibs.com/HeroMarbleVeinedAngled_small.jpg, which is an homage to
the Parker Centennial and International marbled Duofolds of years past.

The aforementioned patterns by Lai Yee http://hisnibs.com/pen_rolls.htm are
Purple Passion and Purple/Lavender Trim -- which can be used to make the
2-pen, 3-pen with pad, 4-pen or 8-pen pouches and pen rolls.

The rest of the newsletter will provide links to as many purple pens on the
website that I can think of. I'm sure I'll miss a few!

Oh, and the Monteverde Rose Gold limited edition Regattas
http://hisnibs.com/regatta_sport.htm are back in stock, as well as the
Conklin Duragraph http://hisnibs.com/duragraph.htm in Forest Green.

As this newsletter goes out to a mailing list of thousands of customers,
please understand if there's a delay in answering your email queries or
orders after one of these is sent. We will respond in order received and as
soon as possible!

Hero Lavender Marble Veined

This lovely offering from Shanghai Hero is reminiscent of one of the marbled
versions of the Parker Duofold Centennial and International line of pens. A
slim pen, it measures 5-1/2" capped, 6-1/2" posted and 4-3/4" with cap held
aside.

The lavender marbling on a black background is very distinctive. It seems to
change appearance a bit with distance from the eye, looking somewhat
whitish/gray from far away and more lavender as it approaches. Quite unique.

Purple Passion 3-Pen Pouch with Pad

Lai Yee has also been in a purple mood this week, with the Purple Passion
above and the Purple/Lavender Trim shown below, in the 8-pen version of the
pen roll.

Duke Purple Heart Clip

So, let's start filling up those purple pen pouches with some matching pens!

"Hi Norman, I love my new pen! I was so excited to see the box when I came
home from my weekend trip today. I couldn't wait to try it out and now that
I have I absolutely love it!"
K. G., Bethlehem, PA

"Got them today! Totally in love with the heart clip, it writes so smooth
and it's SO CUTE. Thanks so much for putting one aside for me. I had been
planning to order one or two when I got home after I saw the newsletter..."
T. M., East Moriches, NY

Dollar brand syringe-filler

"What a great starter pen! I gave one to my 15-year-old son to introduce him
to fountain pens, and I can't get it out of his hands. Of course, the one I
purchased for myself doesn't leave my side either! Thanks so much Norman for
bringing this great pen to my attention (and I love the syringe style of
bottle-filling as well)!
E. P., St. Louis, MO

Monteverde Prima

"Norman--Of course, I am again honored that you wish to share my note on the
website and in the newsletter, so by all means, post away! After you posted
your video about note-folding https://youtu.be/Vl6eiQFMcg0, I have followed
your method with great success. I correspond regularly with a friend who
loves these specially-folded and sealed notes. So again, I am doubly
indebted to you for your note-folding knowledge and your excellent service.
I am enjoying the Prima very much, especially equipped with the black B nib.
It is a wonderful pen, and it gets daily use along with the Jinhao
Dreadnaught http://hisnibs.com/dreadnaught.htm I acquired from you last
December (2013. . . I think). Best regards to you. Until next pen . . .
--Sam F., Rockford, IL

"Norman: The Monteverde Prima B arrived today. I am so happy that you
recommended the B nib, as it writes smooth, wet, and with a medium line. I
am quite pleased with it and the beauty of the color. Also, I am impressed
with the origami note and wax seal -- very nice. Thanks for noting the color
of the ink you used, as I like to looks of it. That might be something for
me to consider down the road. I appreciate your quick and efficient service.
Best wishes to you and yours."
JVK, Seymour, IA

"Dear Norman: Somehow Santa Claus "divined" (that is the appropriate word
he used in his note that accompanied the gift) that the nicest present he
could leave for an old man of my type (writer) would be a lovely fountain
pen. And so, "lo and behold" (more Christmas language he liked) he placed a
Monteverde Prima Turquoise Blue under the tree. I can hardly describe the
translucent beauty of the resin barrel that changes with the light, but I
can say how lightly it rests in the hand and the way the nib glides over the
paper. What a joy to write with. It quickly has become one of my favorites
among the many pens that I own and use. Santa also left a PS in his note
telling me to thank someone named His Nibs for checking the nib before Santa
picked it up."
V. H., Palo Alto, CA

Uranus 621 series

"Norman, I just got the pens and they are great, especially the Picasso.
I'm a big fan of fine nibs. I filled it up with my current fav ink of
Noodler's Air-Corp Blue-Black and it writes great. Thanks!"
S. V. M., Eagle River, AK

"I do love that 621, it writes with the finest line of any pen (including
those with "fine" nibs) that I own. It works great with the narrow ruled
stationary I use at work."
G. P., Topsfield, MA

"Dear Norman, I LOVE, LOVE my Petri dish colored Uranus 621 and want
another one this time in purple."
S. P., La Grande, OR

Conklin Herringbone

"Today I am finally able to say that this pen rocks. I really like it and
it sure is striking looking. Some people might say garish but I love it :)
It writes smoothly too - can't ask anymore of a pen...I have written with
the pen a bit more now and I really like it."
K. E., Ridgewood, NJ

Monteverde NAPA

Ok, so Monteverde calls this blue -- but to my eye, it shades towards the
purple! Also, the NAPA model has been discontinued, so here's your last
chance.

"Hi Norman, Arrived today. Very nice. I am amazed at that stub nib. Tried
it tonight and I really like it. My test ink was Waterman blue-black. This
pen will likely get more use than I originally anticipated. And, pictures
really don't give enough credit. You have to see that pen to appreciate it.
Thanks, Norman."
G. D., Huron, SD

"I bought a blue one with a stub nib - and man am I happy with it - a great
writer very smooth...Thanks Norm."
P. C., Saratoga, CA

"Hi Norman, Thank you so much for your wonderful note. I thoroughly enjoyed
reading it (such fine penmanship!) and I particularly liked the wax seal -
fit for a king! The pen is...quite simply... amazing. I only just realised
that the entire barrel serves as a reservoir for the ink - at least I hope
that's why it has such as large clear window. It hasn't leaked yet so I'm
taking that as a good thing! I've never written with a stub nib before and
it's a very enjoyable experience. I will have to watch that video that you
put up recently to see how I'm meant to use it because it does create some
very nice differences in breadth depending on the stroke and I don't want to
ruin it! Once again thank you so much for selling me such an amazing
product, and at such a good price as well! I will definitely be coming back
again when the fountain pen bug return - which it invariably does after a
few months! I can assure you that I will definitely be checking your page
regularly for your latest amazing offer or new product! Here's another well
satisfied customer wishing you all the best and thanks again,"
R. H., Australia

Monteverde Poquito Stylus ballpoint

Ok, it's not a fountain pen, but it's the fit-anywhere Poquito Stylus
ballpoint coupled with a stylus for capacitive touchscreens! The round silky
finished stylus is made of a unique conductive rubber compound that makes it
as responsive as your finger.

When I say it fits anywhere...at 4-1/4" with ballpoint extended...I'm not
kidding.

Uranus Grapesicle

Ok, I think that's it for the purple pens -- other than a few that I know
are sold out at the moment.

"First, let me say...I LOVE THEM ! The 966 is very cool looking, has a nib
which seems "just right" (just "write") as far as line width is concerned,
and has a snap on cap which I always look for...for a more rapid
deployment!"
D. S., Warren, NJ

"Hi Norman, I received the pens yesterday. I am happy to report that all 4
pens [Invincia Stylus and Yellow Filigree pens] work great right out of the
box! I have been using fountain pens for many, many years and have bought
more than my share. I have found that buying pens online is pretty tricky. I
generally prefer to go to a store and try out the specific nibs, to make
sure the alignment, flow and smoothness are what I expect. I have had mixed
experiences even with high end pens like Montblanc (I even took a pen to
their repair center, but it has never worked quite right). I really like
Lamy pens, but I would not buy them online either, because of the variations
in the nibs. The reason for mentioning this is that your shipments are the
exception. I have now (between this last order and the previous one)
purchased about a dozen pens from you. Every one of them has had great flow,
smoothness and alignment. Every one. Thank you again for your attention to
detail and as always, your handwritten, sealed note."
T. D., Thornhill, Canada
