the more recent purple material.

Award-winning author Jose Dalisay shares his love of fountain pens in the

Crocodile Celluloid Flecks

These striking pens are medium-sized, measuring 5-1/2" capped, 6" posted and
4-3/4" with cap held aside. These are handsomely designed pens, somewhat
reminiscent of the Parker Duofold in overall shape.

The flecks of either agate or amber colorization are mixed with a black base
and gray flakes that are only visible upon close examination. From a
distance, the more vibrant colors predominate. Interestingly, the gray
flecks are continued on the cap top, the section and the barrel end. This
adds lovely visual complexity with the pen in hand.

Made from 100% polyester felt, the basic 6-pen roll is a great way to
protect your pens from scratches while
they're jostled around during travel. Each slot is stitched so that barrels
never make contact, and are large enough to easily fit oversized pens. Laid
flat, the roll measures approximately 9" in width and 10" high, with each
slot being about 5" deep.

Jose Dalisay on fountain pens

JOSE DALISAY, PhD, has published nearly 30 books of fiction and nonfiction,
and teaches English and Creative Writing at the University of the
Philippines. He has been a Fulbright, Hawthornden, Rockefeller, David TK
Wong, and Civitella Ranieri fellow, and his second novel, Soledad's Sister,
was shortlisted for the inaugural Man Asian Literary Prize, the Asian
Booker. Aside from collecting fountain pens, he is also passionate about all
things Apple, and about poker.

"People often ask me what it is about fountain pens that I find so
obsessively fascinating. I'm a writer, so I have a natural affinity with
writing instruments, but I tell them that fountain pens, to me, represent
the perfect marriage between art and engineering. Fountain pens produce
written words, and thus have been the handmaiden of countless works of
literature, both public and private; but they're also art objects in
themselves, the product of thoughtful and often ingenious design and
meticulous craftsmanship."

An interesting new technology, quite unlike anything I've seen before.
