HisNibs.com update -- New from Monteverde and Lanbitou
December 26th, 2013

Greetings all,

I hope that everyone had a joyous Christmas yesterday and that Santa was good to you! As you'll remember, my wife Lai Yee made Angel ornaments earlier this month, and one of them is now gracing an Afghanistan Christmas tree...which you'll see below.

Just a quick heads-up that all Private Reserve http://www.hisnibs.com/ink.htm inks -- bottles and cartridges -- are now re-stocked.

We have two new pen series from Monteverde...the One Touch Stylus Tool http://www.hisnibs.com/one_touch_stylus_tool.htm pen...and in keeping with our recent focus on mini-fountain pens, the new Poquito http://www.hisnibs.com/poquito_fp.htm.

From Lanbitou, the new customer favorite over the holidays, we offer the http://www.hisnibs.com/gold_peony.htm series of fountain pens.

As this newsletter goes out to a mailing list of thousands of customers, please understand if there's a delay in answering your email queries or orders after one of these is sent. We will respond in order received and as soon as possible!

Christmas photo from Afghanistan

Chris wrote to me initially to say that he wanted me to send a fountain pen and ink to him in Afghanistan, as well as to his wife here in States. Although are modern soldiers can communicate with family through phone, email, Skype, etc., Chris felt it would be more meaningful and long-lasting for he and his wife to write letters to each other using pen and paper. A great idea.

As you may remember from the last newsletter, my wife Lai Yee made little Angel ornaments this past month, and we sent one to both Chris and his wife. You can see the one we sent to Chris about halfway up the way up in the center....white with musical notes fabric. I received Chris's photo and message Christmas morning.

"Sir, This is the ornament pic I promised. Sorry for the delay. This tree is in the building we call the TLS here at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. It stands for Taliban Last Stand, and is the building they retreated to and were killed/captured in back in Dec 2001. You can see it is a bit worse for the wear. Thanks again for the ornament and the pens, and I look forward to more orders in the future. Sincerely, Chris"

Monteverde One Touch Stylus pen

Let me start by quoting from Monteverde:

"In a fast paced world, having the right tools at hand is crucial, and the Monteverde One Touch Tool pen brings 9 tools in one premium quality writing instrument! The heavy weight, 6-sided barrel houses our smooth writing Soft-Roll ballpoint at one end and an ultra sensitive touch screen stylus at the other. Under the stylus top are Phillips and flat head screwdrivers, while on the barrel are a built in level, ruler and 3 different scale functions. The chiseled spring clip will hold the One Touch Tool pen securely in your pocket, ready to handle more jobs than any other pen!"

Now, also available in a fountain pen version

(these quickly sold out to my regular newsletter subscribers, but more are on their way next week)

Monteverde Poquito fountain pen series

Monteverde introduces its most diminutive fountain pen -- the Poquito. If you're a fan of the Lanbitou Pocket Rocket http://www.hisnibs.com/pocket_rocket1.htm and Space Arrow http://www.hisnibs.com/space_arrow.htm, here's another 'fit anywhere' fountain pen to add to your collection!

The pen measures 4-3/4" capped, 5" posted and 3-3/4" with cap held aside. Of brass construction, with either a matte finish (in the case of the Stone Grey) or a metallic gloss lacquer for the other colors, this is one pen that won't weigh you down.

Lanbitou Gold Peony fountain pen series

Lanbitou scores again with a full-sized fountain pen at a great price -- this time featuring beautiful blooming Peony flowers. The pen measures 5-1/2" capped, 6-1/2" posted and 4-7/8" with cap held aside.

The flowers are beautifully rendered in pink, with gold leaves -- as well as a couple of little bees buzzing around! -- against the various barrel colors available. Just above the flowers are Chinese characters, which convey the thought that a blooming flower symbolizes prosperity.
