Pardon the bad pics, but this is a stainless steel (or brushed chrome, I'm not sure) Papermate BP (with a matching .7mm pencil hiding somewhere else) I received as a gift when I was a reporter and editor at a weekly newspaper office in the early 1980s.

I don't remember the model name, but it is a very nice pen, but slippery as heck to write with for long periods. It still works perfectly, with a nice, firm click from the button, and only some scratches adding "character". Those were the heyday of the Papermate pen, IMO. I only use it rarely, but it's still great at laying down a nice line when needed.

That's a "Slim Profile," I believe. I don't have one in SS/chrome, but two or three in gold color. One of those is a keepsake as it belonged to my late paternal grandfather.

Thanks. The name just was not coming to me at all. Now I know! smile

My dad also had one of these in the gold finish for many years. After I moved away, I don't know what ever happened to it. I wish I still had that beauty today!

I have an extra one floating around; do you want it? I know it's not *the* pen, but the offer stands. It's not pristine, by any means, but it works.

Thanks for the very generous offer. You hang onto it, I've got a Sheaffer Prelude he used for several years after the Profile was lost, and that's a good reminder for me.

I'll have to post photos of that Prelude and pens my mother used soon.

BTW - Have you seen this guy's collection? Holy Cow! Maybe we can convince him to adopt us! ohmygod.gif

Hi. A friend gifted me the BP and MP set one of these. As mentioned by WA: slippery as heck; but nice, nevertheless!

I never did get the "slippery" thing; maybe I'm part gecko or something, but I don't have any trouble holding onto slick things.

Probably part of my problem is my hands: weak grip and very dry skin don't grip metal surfaces well. Yet I love metal body pens! Go figure...
