HisNibs.com update --Two from Crocodile

Greetings all,

Today we present two new models from the always innovative Crocodile pen
company from China. In business since 1952, they often seem to surprise with
their designs.

Read further to be introduced to the Big Croc Clip and the Leather Torpedo
models.

I keep forgetting to mention that the large Monteverde
http://www.hisnibs.com/monteverde.htm and
Conklin http://www.hisnibs.com/conklin_pens.htm nibs -- including the
stub -- will fit those Jinhao models
that also come with large nibs, such as Desert Sands
http://www.hisnibs.com/desert_sands.htm,
Dragon's Offspring http://www.hisnibs.com/dragon_offspring.htm, Black
Dreadnaught http://www.hisnibs.com/dreadnaught.htm,
Ivory http://www.hisnibs.com/ivory.htm, Pearl Windows
http://www.hisnibs.com/pearl_windows.htm,
Plasma http://www.hisnibs.com/Plasma.htm, Silver Chain Dragon
http://www.hisnibs.com/silver_chain.htm,
Snakeskin http://www.hisnibs.com/snakeskin.htm, Starry Night
http://www.hisnibs.com/starry_night.htm,
Tiger Overlay http://www.hisnibs.com/tiger_overlay.htm, White Spatter
http://www.hisnibs.com/white_spatter.htm and
Wooden Chariot http://www.hisnibs.com/wooden_chariot.htm.

So, if you don't mind mixing companies , then you have a range of nib
sizes -- as well as colors of silver or black -- to match-up with your new
or already purchased Jinhao pens. The nibs are $24.00 each.

Crocodile Big Croc Clip

Here's a pen that will tend to get noticed when it's clipped to your shirt
pocket! Crocodile hasn't been bashful in displaying its company logo in this
full-sized fountain pen. It measures 5-1/2" capped, 6" posted and 4-5/8"
with cap held aside.

Removing the slip cap -- which re-seats with a secure snap -- displays the
nib treatment...which is what initially drew me to this design. The nib
presents itself as being semi-hooded, with a false breather-hole and slit
rendered in the upper design, while the real breather-hole and slit can be
seen through it upon the nib below. It's a very interesting look I think.

Crocodile Leather Torpedo

The leather tooling is quite intricate and detailed, with the barrel chock
full of gamboling crocodiles in various poses!

Each side of the cap is embossed with 'Crocodile', 'Since 1952' and a larger
member of the Crocodyidae family standing guard. Although leather, I do not
believe that it's crocodile skin. I'll update this page if my sources in
China are able to tell me more. 'Crocodile' is engraved both on the clip and
on the ring above it.

Monteverde & Conklin nibs fit selected Jinhao models

The large nibs that many of the Jinhao models sport are terrific in their
own right. But, like the Ford Model-T, you can get them in any line
width...as long as it's medium!

You now have an option -- whether ordering with a new Jinhao pen, or for a
favorite that's already in your rotation. Both the Monteverde and Conklin
nibs will fit.

As I say on the website...the nibs are available in B, M, F or the new stub
sizes (for Monteverde...Conklin no longer offers the 'B' nib). I've found
that the Monteverde and Conklin nibs run about a size smaller than typical
western nibs. Hence, I'd classify the B nib as a typical medium, the M as a
fine and the F as an x-fine. The stub is a 1.1 mm medium. Please specify the
nib size you'd like, by letter or 'stub' only, to avoid confusion when
ordering.

Again, these nibs are $24.00 each. You just need to pull out the nib on your
Jinhao pen (or I can do it for you if we're sending a new one), and slide
the new nib in its place.

The Conklin stub nib is monotone -- as shown here -- while the F and M are
two-toned.
