Monteverde has re-introduced their Intima line, with a new design and
'colors'. The Intima has been in existence for more than a decade....but
you've never seen it like this!

From Wing Sung we introduce the 500 series Celluloid, a striking, hooded-nib
fountain pen.

Stipula adds Yellow to its Etruria Rainbow line of demonstrator pens.

Monteverde Intima fountain and ball pens

Subtle and demure, aren't they? These are the re-imagining of one of
Monteverde's oldest (more than a decade) and best loved pen series...the
Intima. Although the ballpoint version is not too dissimilar from the
original model (setting aside the wild colors for the moment), the fountain
pen is a complete re-design of the model. One could really call this the
Intima 2 line.

The fountain pen measures 5-1/4" capped, 6-1/4" posted and 4-3/4" with cap
held aside. Due to their all-resin barrels and caps, these are light
pens...which makes extended writing sessions a real pleasure.

Although the surprise has already been sprung by the photographs above, if
you'd never seen the pen before, then unscrewing the cap would take your
breath away...as the gleaming black steel nib (coated with titanium) is
standard on the pen...and comes in four sizes -- F, M, B and 1.1mm stub.
I've found that the Monteverde nibs run about a size smaller than typical
western nibs. Hence, I'd classify the B nib as a typical medium, the M as a
fine and the F as an x-fine. The stub is a 1.1 mm medium. Please specify the
nib size you'd like, by letter or 'stub' only, to avoid confusion when
ordering.

Wing Sung 500 series Celluloid

A slim pen, the Wing Sung 500 celluloid series fountain pen measures 5-1/4"
capped, 6-1/4" posted and 4-1/2" with cap held aside. Although the pen is
lacquer-over-brass construction, due to its slim size it's not at all heavy,
and can be written with comfortably over long writing sessions.

Removing the slip cap -- which re-caps with a secure snap -- displays the
long expanse of the chrome hood. Hooded-nibbed pens always provide for a
sleek look, and this pen is no exception. The gold-colored steel nib
equivalent to a western fine.

Stipula Etruria Rainbow demonstrator in Yellow

The Etruria is generally considered Stipula's flagship pen model. Now,
introducing the Stipula Etruria Rainbow limited edition series pens.
Produced from solid rods of Italian resin, these gorgeous demonstrators
are hand-turned and finished to a gleaming transparency.

Truly over-sized pens, the fountain pens measure 5-7/8" capped, 6-3/4"
posted and 5-18" with cap held aside. Despite their large size, they're
extremely well-balanced and being made primarily of resin, are comfortable
to write with for hours on end.

Unlike the previous colors, the latest addition to the group, the Yellow,
has silver furniture and nib.

On the blog...End of an Era

Adam Frank reported on Pentrace this weekend about the sudden closing of the
venerable (next year would have been their 90th year) Manhattan pen shop,
Art Brown.

All reports indicate that this was due to an increase in rent that could no
longer be sustained.
