HisNibs.com update -- New Conklin Endura 2
September 22nd, 2012

Greetings all,

I'm pleased to introduce the new Conklin Endura design in this newsletter...which I'm christening the Endura 2. I think it's a terrific new take on a classic pen...and I really like the ballpoint too!

An update on the Conklin black chased Crescent pens...they're still not here! I have quite a waiting list now. The latest word is that YAFA should receive them mid-October...but as a couple of delivery dates have already been missed, I'm not holding my breath. As soon as I know definitely, I'll be contacting all of you that have been so patient awaiting this great pen's return.

As this newsletter goes out to a mailing list of thousands of customers (July marked our 15th year of business), please understand if there's a delay in answering your email queries or orders after one of these is sent. We will respond in order received and as soon as possible!

Conklin Endura 2

Although this re-designed model is officially the Endura line of Conklin pens, I've taken the liberty of calling them the Endura 2, so as to differentiate them from the previous version. There are a number of differences, and to my mind improvements, in the '2'.

The body and cap have been rounded (the older version was 12-sided) and the clip and cap bands are now gold-plated rather than chromed. The clip is a big improvement, as Conklin stepped back in time to 'update' the Endura 2 with the iconic Rocker Clip. The inspired Rocker Clip design is perfectly balanced and will easily fit and hold firm in a shirt, thick jacket or coat pocket -- and does so with one finger upon the top of the clip. Almost 100 years later, it's still a superior -- and often copied -- clip design. It's engraved with 'Conklin' in script.

Perhaps the biggest change is in the selection of resin patterns and 'colors' of the new Endura 2. These are all winners as far as I'm concerned...whereas I wasn't that thrilled with the original selection (with the exception of the 'Smokey Grey', which has been carried on in spirit with the new 'Black/White').

The Endura 2 ballpoints are a real design departure from the previous version, and one of the nicest ballpoint designs that I've seen from a pen company in a long time.

As I mentioned above, the wait continues for the restocking of the Conklin black chased Crescent fountain pen -- but the other patterns are in stock!

A nearly 15 minute video showing the making of Pilot pens. Although the captioning is in Japanese, you can click on the 'CC' button at the bottom of the video screen to turn on English subtitles.

You might also want to turn down the sound...as the accompanying music gets old pretty fast.

I have to say those crescents are grabbing my eye. The green one, not so much, but everything else there looks really nice. I like that they went old school with the rocker clip.

The price looks good too, too bad I'm broke as usual or I'd have one of those orange beauties inbound.
