I just found this forum today and thought I'd jump in. It's always fun meeting up with other fountain pen users on the web.

Welcome Alexandra, and g'day from chilly Adelaide, South Oz

I'm pretty much a novice here. Preferences lie with the pre 1955 models - no particular make - but "I know what I like". You would call me an accumulator at the moment rather than a collector.

Where in California are you from?

Roger

Hello Roger,

I'm from the middle of the state right around Fresno. Unlike you I only have modern pens, my current favorite being the Namiki Falcon. You just gotta love a flexi nibs...at least I do anyway. biggrin

Welcome from down south in Escondido, Alexandra! And Roger, I seem to have missed greeting you; I have a friend who just sold a snack bar in downtown Adelaide. smile.gif

That's pretty close...considering the global scale of things. Thanks for the welcome!

Alexandra - I passed through Fresno a couple of years ago but didn't stop long enough to look around. Isn't it called the "Raisin Capital of the World" or something similar?

Mike - Yep we have lots of cafes in town. I've heard it said that we have the largest number of cafes per capita in Oz. Wouldn't surprise me! biggrin

I'm actually 20 miles south of Fresno in the heart of the Raisin Capital dispute. My town, Kingsburg is home to Sun Maid, the raisin giant which would make us indisputably the raisin capital except for the fact that most of the raisins actually come from next door Selma. If you passed through Kingsburg on 99 we would be the town with the giant coffee pot.

My dad and brother live in Dove Creek, Colorado: the Pinto Bean Capital of the World.

So it could be worse.

Would you rather be a famous bean or a famous dried grape? smile.gif
