Kate, would you tell us about your handwriting software. I'm intrigued.

How cool would it be if we could somehow incorporate your software to the site so members could post in their own handwriting.

The handwriting software I have isn't (or isn't yet) a handwriting-font software: it's software for practicing and applying handwriting.

The software on the disk includes:

/1/ my Handwriting Repair PDF a teach-yourself version of my Handwriting Repair lessons which I have been giving for years (see my web-site at HandwritingThatWorks.com)

/2/ a trial version of a colleagues software called PDFbyHand, which letx you put handwritten annotations into a PDF document using a tablet/pen or even a mouse

/3/ READMEs on the above, and on other handwriting-related softwares of the businesspeople involved (we are putting together a business consortium of manufacturers/executives whose products involve the use of 21st-century technologies applied to learning/using handwriting. The group's current code-name is SCRIPTION but this may change to something else when we formally launch in a couple of months: consider the current software a trial-run for larger products under development, including fonts and more.)

The current price for the above (2 pieces of software, and info on others already available that aren't on this disk) is $20, payable to me via PayPal: my PayPal ID is handwritingrepair@gmail.com -- specify that the payment is for "the SCRIPTION software" and I will know what to send you by return e-mail.

@ Kate:

I've been to your Website many times, although it has bee awhile.
Nice!

As for your new software; a question, please.
On line "/2/" above you mention a trial version "PDFbyHand" and has me wondering about mouse-writing or pen-written items and inserting such annotations.
I've had to use those electronic signature things within online documents before and using a mouse, even at ultra-low speeds, my signature always looked terrible.
That being said, does this software include some sort of OCR [Optical Character Recognition] so a true signature can be scanned and then used within said /pdf documents?
While I cannot afford any purchases of any kind at this time I still wanted to say that the cost of $20 sounds very reasonable for such a valuable teaching tool, I hope many that need it take advantage of your hard work and offer.

I've always enjoyed reading the stories on your Website regarding the "crisis" as you call it of illegible handwriting.
Those documented cases where such poor handwriting has caused everything from major financial losses and even death are mind-boggling!
Such information should be given to every physician wanting to graduate medical school, as far as I'm concerned, myself having to deal with monthly doctor visits and taking daily medications.
The prescriptions I've seen over the decades have always been next to impossible to read, often the pharmacists have asked me "What's that say? I can't make out your doctors' handwriting."
I have often wondered if it was SOP for major medical universities to teach their medical students to write poorly deliberately for some reason, as it certainly appeared to be so.

Anyway, sorry I've not been around much, too many health issues, but sure is good to see you as a member here on TFPC!
All my best;
Scott

@ Kate, again:

Meant to mention that when I try using your Web-link in Firefox I get...
hdr_sorry_small.gif
... along with the following...

Page Not Found

The page you tried to access does not exist on this server. This page may not exist due to the following reasons:

  1. The URL that you have entered in your browser is incorrect. Please re-enter the URL and try again or select from the Site Table below.

  2. The Link that you clicked on incorrectly points to this page. Please contact the Kate Gladstone, owner of this web site to inform here of this situation.
Just thought I'd let you know, although the Link and all the embeded Links work/s flawlessly when I switch over to Internet Explorer 8 in a different Browser window.
It may be my Firefox settings, not sure, but all other Websites seem to load OK.

P.S.;
If I'm up to it I may enter your WHC.
While I've had no formal training I have had many people tell me I have excellent wandwriting, that is very ledgible.
It would be interesting to see if I can compete with those that have had the formal training, was wondering if those that enter get their results back if they don't win the top honors.
Thanks and best wishes!

My web-master has gone to look at my site right now; everything worked fine yesterday (in Firefox and other browsers). If it has gone down, he will fix it -- the time taken will depend on the cause of the failure.

Re:

PDFbyHand is for inserting mouse-written/tablet-written annotations into PDFs of any kind. However, it does not include OCR: its a PDF reader that lets you write/draw into what you're looking at.
The $20 disk also includes other software, and info re still more software. So far, though, I've sold only three -- all were sold at the Baltimore Pen Show.
By the way -- my web-master just reports that my site is working fine: http://www.HandwritingThatWorks.com
Further:
Medical schools do NOT teach poor handwriting; I have checked.
