I took a look at thae other pen forum today and my anti malware software rejected it saying it is known as a place that puts malware on your systems and is being used for phishing. Has anyone else had this happen? confuse

Good Question!
It's been down a while.

I saw that earlier in "Chatter" there when you could access it.
More traffic here!!

They have been shutting down for maintenance every day, lately, in the middle of mine, in the middle of the night for others.

I don't even know if my message to the Mod's got through...none of my warnings as a thread did.

Got a life boat here....should come here more often.

I'm glad you find pleasure in others' misfortunes.  You must be cackling with glee at all the crap left on my computer from accessing it yesterday.  Enjoy your entertainment, Rita.  furious

Well, sorry to hear that there is malicious "crap" on your computer, Offbase!
We do welcome some spirited discussion here (in moderation), but I doubt that Rita is smiling about this!
Yes, Rita probably could have found FPN's problems less funny, and it is misfortunate. I'm sure that the mods there are working to fix the problem!
BTW, freeware such as "SpyBot" is pretty good, and should fix any problems left from visiting FPN the last day or so!

I am very fortunate in a way, this system is a professional work system and is loaded with all sorts of anti-malware, so I was not badly affected. But I feel sorry for the average user who innocently goes to a site expecting entertainment and instead catching a dread disease that will take valuable time and efforts to clean up. Rita, I agree should not enjoy schadenfreude, but I also understand that she has taken serious umbrage with what she considers maltreatment of her, by them.

BTW. Cat asks if lazy dog could be on the menu.

Thanks. Funny thing is, my laptop pooped out on me, I had to sell my Visconti Divine Comedy to replace it, which I did with a desk top, this time. Put Norton Internet Security 2010 ($69.99) on it less than a week ago. Rather than blocking the malicious code, it was kind enough to inform me that it was found AFTER THE FACT.

I hope my computer isn't spamming donkey porn to everyone on my contacts list. Sigh ...

It is sad to see that FPN is having problems. But I wonder how much they caused themselves as I have heard from people that they are trying to expand their sphere of influence to other sites- monitoring et al.

Honestly if the 6 admins were booted out for incompetence and other kinder souls took over it would make FPN a wonderful site.

Did a Trojan check with Hitman, had two.

That will teach me to be lazy.....when one gets it for free, one has to do the work one's self.....can't afford computer programs, why they cost more than a good second hand pen.

What specific infections have people gotten from going to FPN?  I was surprised that this malware warning was at the level of coming from Google.  How does google monitor if I am going to a website for which I had a shortcut on my browser toolbar?

I guess I better shut down and run a whole set of spyware checkers.

In my case AVG detected it and routed me to a Google page with information about the hits on it. Google goes out to every site it knows about on a regular basis to check on it. I have a site for downloading mainframe automation software and Google is in every regularly to read everything it can and to check on it.

OK, I guess my Zone Alarm Extreme Security picked it up then.

I updated and ran Spyware Blaster, and Spybot Search & Destroy, and neither found anything on my system, but I didn't proceed after getting the warning.

So sad that as a new enthusiast, I feel like I'm going through withdrawals from the other forum. I sent an email to the network people, and this is what I got in reply (this was 8 hours ago):

The FPN site was hacked. A significant effort to find and delete corrupted files was accomplished by mid day yesterday, and the site returned to service. Despite countermeasures employed to prevent tampering again by both us and Invision board, we were again attacked in the afternoon. We will continue to work to restore the site, and to implement additional protections.

We apologize for the inconvenience to our members, but do ask for patience,as we only have one specialist capable of correcting the problem.

It is really discouraging that some people work so hard to inconvenience so many innocent people, but unfortunately, that is the way the Internet world is.

We will be back. But we cannot say exactly when. Likely later today.

Warm Regards,

The FPN Admin Team

PS: we recmomend you scan your computer for viruses. If you don't have a spyware program, please consider SpyBot, which is known to identify and clean this type of virus...

Other's misfortunes? Do you guys know that FPN infested my two computers with their spyware and then broke into my Facebook account?

It's not anybody's else virus they are talking about, it's their own activity. They throw away people for no reason and then become paranoid that someone can sue them for it. They are a non-profit organization that accepts donations, and there are some rules that they supposed to follow. But they obviously don't.

You are so naive, people...

Go ahead and ban me from here. But I still be telling the truth.
