Am I missing a check box to have the site email you whenever someone posts to a thread you've posted to?  or do you have to do it each time?

I think that "subscribing" to that particular topic notifies you whenever someone adds a reply to it. You can monitor your preferences/subscribed topics under "User Details"

So it sounds like there isn't an automatic method to get notified.

If you reply using the "Quote" button, one of the check boxes below the "Show Preview" button is marked "Email me whenever there is a new post to this topic."

Yes I've seen that but there is no checkbox to allow email notification whenever you post in a thread.

Do you mean a generic setting that would get you an e-mailed notification of anything anyone posts in any topic? Otherwise that check box is available with "Quote," "Reply," and "Start a new topic." The only place it's not available is in the "Quick reply" and "Edit Post" editors.

Yes a generic setting to allow any posting in a thread to automatically send an email response.

It sounds like the software doesn't allow it, thanks for all the input!

Hmmm ... you can subscribe to entire forums by selecting those you like and clicking on the envelope-shaped subscribe icon next to the Facebook and Digg icons just above thc chatbox on the right.

Yes I see that also but what I was looking for in particular and something that other boards provide is a method to allow a user to have a global "subscribe" to any thread that he posts to.

Again it looks like this site doesn't have that.

It would seem not. In contrast, what I would like to see, at least on one forum site, is the ability to ignore certain forums entirely, but that doesn't seem to be available anywhere.

Ignoring would be a godsend. I'd banish the marketplaces first thing!

This is why DWL is working on getting this board moved to another host.
This forum is good in that it has live chat, and a couple other options not seen OTOB.

But, The other board has a lot of good features such as those you guys are talking about!
I gave Dennis links to other forum hosts. I did a search based on some of the features all of us asked about in the prior posts/conversations.

If anyone is familiar with any hosting boards/services, let Dennis or me know!
I have IT experience (I teach it), and some basic web design skills, but nothing on the scale that we need here!
