The Lamy 2000 simply never moved me. It was a nice pen, good writer, reliable, but just never made it into rotation. When I met someone though that wanted to get started with fountain pens the 2K and a Safari were among the pens I gave him.

My 800 though regularly makes it into rotation.

This. I've owned both pens a couple of times & the M800 wins hands down each & every time.

Maybe if I could find a pre-1980s M800 I'd be more inclined to go that way. The silkscreened logo just bothers me for some reason.

an old style m800 which has more a flexible and better nib than the post 1997 m800s.
