I also have some sketches of possible body windows that might be easy to do.

I'd love to see them.

Please feel free to email them to me. If I decide to use it, I'll be glad to let you have one of the second one of the line (I get #1...lol)

That offer go's for everyone here in the community. if you have designs you'd like me to look at I'll be happy to do just that.

A couple of updates:

I just walked back in the door from a day of errand hell & a visit from the machine shop. Very long day & I'M WIPED OUT. Haven't snapped pics yet & wont until tomorrow.

The pen your going to get see tomorrow will drop your jaw at the very least. It may even move some to tears. All I'll say about it is it's the second largest size in my line up & is made from a rod of solid titanium.

My knees actually got wobbly when I held it in my hand. The Leather holster/pen case is a deep chocolate brown oilskin and is exactly what I asked for.

All I can say is brace yourself folks. The awesome is about to be unleashed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also I just got the confirmation email. This is my first celluloid/HR order.
2 rods of the Ivory with the straight cut.
2 rods of the Ivory with the cross cut.
2 rods of the dark tortoise.
1 sheet of the golden wood. (this is about 6 rods)
2 rods of the purple striated.
1 rod of the green striated
1 rod of the black and yellow striated rubber.
Also inbound from another source is 24' of Tellurium Copper rod
http://store.electrical-insulators-and-copper-ground-bars.com/bus-bar-clamps-and-support.html?gclid=CIWxkIe4p58CFRQeDQodJWsm2A
..and there are a few dozen feet of this inbound as well.
This one is basic titanium grey, but we discussed anodizing and other color options (and materials, and sizes, and a lot more.
~~~~~

We talked at length about something so enormous, it will effect the pen business world wide, but I'm not going to share anything yet, just in case it doesn't happen.

OH BTW.

I accidentally got my first REAL durability test on the prototype pictured above. I was uncapping it & my finger slipped. It took a HARD 5' drop onto a concrete slab. I was horrified. Thought to myself ACK!! Thats a $1200 prototype pen your dropping you big dummy!! I expexted to pick it up from a pile of broken glass & dripping Lively Green ink everywhere.

Damage? A tiny pin point ding on the cap lip.

Needless to say I was impressed & very pleased. I dont know many pens that would have come off so lightly from a fall like that.

If I can get my scanner to work I'll send over some of my sketches. I've got a silver ring with a neat pattern that would be perfect.

Good to hear it's OK Dennis!
Save this incident for a durability pledge!

Just don't go claiming invincibility and allow someone to smack it on the edge of an aquarium. smile.gif

The entire thing is the logo.

I think this will help clear up it's meaning some.

Looks like an ouroboros. I like the logo. Random tidbit of info for ya; The full moon was considered a symbol of enlightenment for Chan (Zen) buddhism.

Dennis, maybe I missed it but can you clear a few things up;

I take it it is an ED filler yeh?
Whats up with the nib? What are you using?
Are the dimensions settled on, the cap seems akward somehow?

Also, can I see a pic of your pen next to a 'standard size pen' so I can the scaling.

~Very cool. I'll do some research.

~Sure

I take it it is an ED filler yeh?

~yup

Whats up with the nib? What are you using?

~The nib in the mock up is, believe it o not from a school pen, but when we hit full production the nib choices will be 14K or 18K or Steel

Are the dimensions settled on, the cap seems akward somehow?

That is/was just a mechanical mock up & not fully realised in the aesthetics department. So the cap isn't locked into a style.

The 3 sizes & other info are in this thread.

I said I was going to post these this morning, but a minor material defect needed to be fixed, so it was off to the shop again, the all afternoon hang out was very cool. I really enjoyed watching theses guys do their thing.

I'm doing a series of pens called "ages of man". I'm keeping the first model, Neolithic, under wraps for the moment. The second I'm willing to share is the Space Age. This is made from a solid rod of Grade 2 Titanium. The 'cage rods' are 14K. It's a beastly, 6 1/2" capped7 1/4" posted. 7/8" od Barrel, 1 1/16" od cap. Ink capacity is a full 9ML.

This is 95% complete, there are a couple of aesthetic beads and minor things like that yet to engrave, but for the most part this is the full production model.

Thoughts & comments are very welcome.

aWhy have I been calling the pen case a holster?

I'll let you figure that one out...

The only 2 changes to be made here are the magnets that hold the stand closed are going to be earth magnets & reside inside the leather, rather than ride on it.

The other change is the addition of a small 'finger hole' at the bottom of the pouch so you can 'draw' the pen easier, rather than grabbing it by the cap & pulling (involving a chance the cap will come off, then the inevitable fumble with removing the barrel etc etc..So I decided a slot for your finger to push the pen from the bottom to releases it would work better.

As I said elsewhere if you keep the brass rods and maybe do up a little more engraving you'd have a Steampunk fountain pen that I bet you'd get lots of publicity on from other sites.

just a thought

And one other suggestion...

Have the section threaded to allow use of Esterbrook nibs...
