I was just doing a pass over on another board and just had to share the irony.
There's a pen that is touted as one of a kind since there is only one...now. But there is nothing to say that another can't be made. I am sure the artist would be happy to be paid to make another and the company would love to crank out another barrel as well.
It is also funny that the only reason this pen was made was because of a communication problem I guess I'd expect that a pen north of $1K would be made to a very specific order but I guess not.
This is from the same company that makes a big deal about having limited runs of colors but also has a bespoke service so you can get anything made up for you- for a price!
I really think the emperor's new clothes look rather nice this time!

he is still making pens and he did this one on request so I don't see an issue with another being requested and created. That's the humor in it.
Well, each one of his works is hand made. While another one might be similar, and maybe even very close, since each is an original work of art it will be different.

I'm not really sure if that is true since the design for the pen is one of his earlier ones. Maybe if each pen's design were completely different it would be true but saying that a pen is an original work of art since it is slightly different from another would mean that if I scratch a pen it is an original since no other is exactly like it.
The pen is called one-of-a-kind because it is a rollerball and not a fountain pen.
Using your definition above all silver engraved pens are original works of art as there are going to be slight differences.
