Pear Tree Pen Ink Samples

Anyone try em?

Ryan is a pleasure to deal with, the package arrived damned quick (4 days from the US!)

Half way through testing them, so far I've tried;

Stipula Sepia. Rather red, quite pale through this F nib. Going to fill up a converter and use it tomorrow at work (it was the bottle with the most in it as well)

Private Reserve Black Cherry. Definately my favourite so far! Colour matchs the name perfectly, looks like a brown-burnt red :)

Diamine Grey, plain jane grey. I really like grey inks, and this sample has confirmed it, so I can't wait for my Iroshizuku inks to arrive!

Inks left to test are;

J Herbin Le De The, Sailor Red Brown, Omas Sepia.

It shall be a battle to the death between J Herbin and Omas for my next ink purchase..

/e: Just tried the Sailor Red Brown. The fine nib was so faded and just quite bleh. Washed out red. Then I tried it dipped with that green estie (lookin' at you DWB) and BLAMO the change was amazing. Going to have to dip the Black Cherry with it now to compare..

/e2: As to the two other 'sepias', I am undecided, so I shall recompare under natural light..

Never tried Pear Tree Pens... maybe I'm just tight but it seems like an awful lot of money for samples.  I guess the shipping cost is mitigated if you're buying something else.

Brown much? smile Black Cherry is nice.  I like Burgundy Mist, too; it's a bit more purple but very pleasant this time of year.  My favorite brown is Waterman Havana, followed closely by Pelikan Brilliant Brown.

It is funny how certain pens and inks react... some inks look horrible until you get them paired with the right pen.

Well 10$ shipped from the US, I can't really complain, especially as Ryan included extra inks for me for free.

I've been using Stipula Sepia all day at work. Its nice I guess, definately a wet ink! It just seems a bit, well.. boring. When its wet it promises so much in terms of shading but just doesn't deliver.

Do you have BCherry? How does it change when you change the nib size?
