In addition to the topics previously mentioned, bring unusual and/or favorite color and pattern pens, the video from “Show me St. Louis” about SLAPU will be available for view, bring any new pen acquisitions, and a discussion of the new YAHOO site; I will also bring some materials from Pen Collectors of America for anyone who is not a current member. Also I have attached a copy of PCAcent for July 2008, a monthly newsletter sent to the PCA membership. Notice that they have begun a new section (on page 4) which will have information about local clubs.

Hope to see many of you at the meeting next week.

A copy of PENDEMONIUM’S  special Holiday plans and hours were distributed.  (copy below)

Holiday Open House at Pendemonium
We are having not one, but TWO Holiday Open Houses this year in order to coordinate a little better with our traditions and with a new holiday event, Home for Christmas sponsored by Fort Madison Main Street. We'd love for you to stop by and share a little holiday cheer with us!

November 27-28, the weekend after Thanksgiving, is our traditional Holiday Open House weekend. Extended hours on Fri, Nov 27, 9am - 8pm and Sat, Nov 28, 9am - 6pm. Friday night is the annual Parade of Lights, the biggest lighted parade in all of Iowa, it's very cool. If it's cold, or even if it's not and you prefer staying inside, we invite you to watch the parade with us, our shop faces the parade route and offers a perfect warm viewing area. Stop by and register to win Pendemonium gift certificates and writing prizes which we will draw for throughout the day, you need not be present to win. We'll have homemade autumn treats and hot apple cider, so put your diets on hold!

December 5, the following Saturday, will be our new Holiday Open House in conjunction with Fort Madison Main Street's Home For Christmas events in our historic downtown. We'll be open from 9am - 5pm. We'll have an array of chocolate delights and coffee for you to enjoy while you shop, keep the diets on hold! Throughout the day, downtown Fort Madison will be filled with fun holiday activities for kids and adults including Lunch with Santa, Free Movie at the restored Fox Theatre, Cooking Class at the world famous Ivy Bakeshoppe & Cafe, Afternoon Holiday Parade, Horse & Buggy Rides, Santa's Workshop and the Holiday Queen Contest. I'll post more details on these events on our Pen Shows & Events section of the website along with direct links to Fort Madison Main Street for even more information.

Both weekends will be lots of fun and just a little bit different from each other. Stop by and register to win Pendemonium gift certificates and writing prizes which we will draw for throughout all days of the holiday celebrations, you need not be present to win. The shop is filled with collectible vintage and modern pens, inks and other writing equipment! Sweeten your shopping! Save some shopping dollars and help us fill the shelves at the Fort Madison Food Pantry! Bring one non-perishable food item and we'll take 10% off, bring two for a 20% discount off any purchase in our shop. It's a win-win situation for everyone!  (copied from “INKY GREETINGS”, November 19, 2009)

Meeting dates for 2010 were also discussed and it was decided that the meetings would continue to be held on a quarterly basis in February, May, August and November.   The consensus was that Saturday afternoons are preferable with the understanding that due to room availability some may have to be in the morning.  The Library systems has changed the reservation system and now only allow booking rooms for Jan 1 thru June 30, so we will have to wait to reserve for August and November until April 1st.    The following are the dates that have been reserved for 2010:

Saturday, February 20th 1:00 to 5:00 PM

Saturday, May 22nd 1:00 to 5:00 PM

Tentative dates to be confirmed in April:

August 21st and November 20th
