Very nice score bud. That looks like a mid to late 40's production piece to me. Most of the inkographs i see are earlt 40's models like this.
I don't come across the metal cap & 'Balance style" sharp tapered ends very often at all. This should be a straightforward resac job. Just be careful not to bend the weighted wire when you unscrew the stylo tip for cleaning. If you don't have an ultrasonic cleaner get one. This tiny stylo tube is perfect for them. Also if the weight has a lot of oxidation on it & the plastic case has split, you'll have to figure out how to make or find a new one.
Stylos like these are bperfect for taking notes in book margins & places of limited space. Not to mention a lot of fun to use.
Enjoy it bud. D

dude, you make it sound so hard to upkeep and fix, i might have to get rid of it...LOL!!
first, what's an ultrasonic cleaner? where can i find this??? i thought this were cleaned just like a regular FP.
the reason i got this is cos' they said it was working, sav and level. even if i have to resac, it's no problem. what worries me is what you mentioned about the wire and the casing splitting!! i never had a stylo pen, so i don't know the first thing about them!!
Nah man, not hard at all. Same upkeep & feeding as any vintage fp.
"what's an ultrasonic cleaner? where can i find this???.
It's a small 'tank' with water, that vibrates at a super high frequency & cleans items through the sinic vibrations. I got mine from harborfreight.com. $30 or so. Going strong for 3 years plus now.
"i thought this were cleaned just like a regular FP." They are, when i break a pen down for restoration, I run all of the parts through the US cleaner to get all of the old ink & general crud off of them.
"what worries me is what you mentioned about the wire and the casing splitting!! i never had a stylo pen, so i don't know the first thing about them!!"
It's exactly the same as a lever fill fp, but has a tube with a weighted wire behind it instead of a nib. I'm sure binder has a write up on stylos on his site.
They don't have any line variation at all, more of a liquid ink pencilish sort of thing. The weight is a small cylinder of lead encased in plastic, with a plastic shaft that passes through the section (creating a seal & shuts off or opens the ink flow), WITH a thin needle fine wire poking out of the end of it. The wire passes through the stylo tube and protrudes just a tiny bit. So that when the stylo tip is touched to the paper, the wire is poked in just a tad lifting the weight/shut off allowing the ink to flow. Sounds 1000% more complicated than it really is.
In the end they are just cool pens. Enjoy it & have fun. Dennis

i will enjoy it, thank you very much for the info. i knew about no line variation, i'm ok with that, i just wanted to have my first stylo pen!!! now i have it!! regards,
hello D, i havn't received the pen yet, but i have a question. since this is not an ED but a lever fill, i'm assuming it takes ink like a regular lever fill FP, am i correct? regards,
Yup, it's exactly like & IS a lever filler from the section back..
Sac on the section nipple, J bar in the barel, lever over them both, flip fill & write. The only difference is the front end of the section/stylo tube.

i finally got my inkograph and it is in pristine condition!!! i never had a stylo pen before so i can't compare it to any other pen in its class, but i'm very happy. i can say that it is smoother than i expected and behaves very well, it doesn't skip at all. it's like writing with a RB, but smoother!!
Using a vintage sac is like driving on 30 yr old tires. They may hold air but will most likely fail at the worst possible time.
Take 20 minutes & resac that bad boy. Wiggle/pull the section out. clean of the old sac & section nipple. Flush everything out, new sac on the nipple. shellac dry time. reassemble. ink, write & done.
