Hello from a curious student!
Permalink Closed

Hi everyone!

My name is Angelynn. I'm currently a graphic design student in the Bay Area. While I love pens, I'm new to fountain pens. The only fountain pen that I have right now is a Pilot Metropolitan. I haven't used it a whole lot yet, but I love how sleek it is and it writes very well as far as I've used it.

However, I didn't only join this forum to learn about fountain pens, but I also would love to know more about this community you guys have built!

I'm doing a semester long project in my Graphic Design 3 class on a subculture of our choosing. I chose to do this community because it isn't very well known to other people out there. If anyone can give me information or direct me to where I can learn more about the history of this fountain pen community (when did it start, where, who started it, any key figures, etc.), as well as if you guys meet anywhere outside of this forum. Also, if anyone from the Bay Area is willing to have a meetup with me so that I could interview them, then that would be greatly appreciated! Just let me know details and when you'd be interested in doing that.

Please let me know if I should post this above part in another area on the forum. I will gladly oblige. I just thought it'd be easier to post it in the introductions so you all know where I'm coming from.

I hope I can hear back from people. Thank you everyone!

Welcome to The Community Angelynn!

There are some Bay Area members here (and other forums), and there is a Pen Club in that area as well.
I'm sure they can give you more insight into the world of pens!

Pen Clubs meet frequently- people bring pens to do a "show and tell", as well as to possibly buy/sell/trade!
Hope this helps!

Regards,
Frank

Hi Frank!

Thanks so much for your reply, I really appreciate it! I've stumbled upon the Pan Pacific Pen Club and the SF Bay Pen Posse, thanks to your statement about there being a Pen Club around here.  I'm hoping I can get in contact with them and come to one of their meets. But if you happen to know any others by name, please let me know :)

Again, thank you for your response to me!

Best wishes!

Angelynn
