Hi everyone.

What's a reasonable price for an esterbrook J series pen? I'm looking at restored pens in mint condition with stub and flexible nibs. I think I may end up with two 9xxx nibs (9314F or B, 9128 or 9788). When I total the amount it comes to US$118-132. Is that too much? Thanks for any help :D

For a mint J I'd say your looking at $30-50 for the pen alone and for the 'exotic' estie nibs figure $30-40 ish each if you can find them. So yeah IMHO, your in the ballpark for what your looking for.

I sell a lot of Esties from time to time. I am usually in the $40 range for 1xxx/2xxx pens.
If I had a new (NOS) 9xxx nib on a pen, then yeah, I would be in the $50 range.
It seems like a bit on the high end to me what you are paying, but still in an "average".

Hi DWL & Frank :)

Thanks for the advice. The "exotic" nibs cost almost as much as -- or even sometimes as much -- as the pen! I've been scouring the net and almost forget -- I did find some 1xxx/2xxx pens in the $35-45 range so that helps cut down the total.
