Browsing eBay - Any "system"?
Permalink Closed

Hi all,

OK: Title is quite self-explanatory. Our eBay local associate (www.mercadolibre.com.ar) has A LOT of ads. Whenever you place "Parker" or another big brand name there are over 250 ads. If you choose to generic words (as translations for "nib", "pen", or such) it is even greater. Sellers are not always aware of what they have, so there are ads under "office gear", others in "Antiques and collectibles", and might be other ones. eBay (USA) is a lot bigger than that. I have just placed the "Parker" there and just under "collectibles - pens" there are over 6000 ads. And this of course doesn't include the Pelikans, Watermans, Sheaffers, ...

Now the question: If you don't want to open such a huge amount of ads, how do you browse eBay? How do you "filter" the interesting ones?

Thanks.

Martin

Under "search preferences", you can select the area, time remaining, auction only type preferences. You can also save these preferences once you have created them!

With so many people posting items there, it can be tough to narrow it down! You have to be specific on your search bar i.e. "Sheaffer Targa"

Thanks Frank. Our sellers are not so informated, or at least they don't seem to. There are a whole lot of ads with incomplete descriptions, or wrong ones. Lots of "Sheffars" "Parquer" and such. Up to now I have been just checked without a method. Sometimes sorting by value, others by geographic location, other ones splitting "buy-it-now" vs "open bids", or cathegory.

But I would like to fish the hidden ones, the ones that are not skyrocketing in values because they have missed the target (wrong description, wrong cathegory, ... biggrin).
