This has been my grail pen for more than a decade. i could never come close to picking one as they generally run in the $500 plus range for an average beater. This is in that club but for about 1/2 of what they usually go for. My grail pen will have the #7 or #9 adjustable nib. This doesnt have an adjustable nib, BUT about 2 weeks ago i had a coronet desk pen show up with....a #7 nib. One side of the tipping is missing, but thats an easy fix with a trip to Grag Minushkin. I need to souirce a correct clip, but thats not going to be THAT hard. I'm so damned happy. now I just need to sell off some pens ASAP to pay for it.

I'll bet you are Dennis! :)

Very nice...

Is this considered a Doric?

Um, OK, so what are the specs?
Says it's "Unusual" but I know nothing about it.
Is it solid gold, gold filled, brass, vermeil, rare,...?
Teach me, I know nothing of this, can only say I'm glad to hear you got something you'd been wanting.

Well, other than being drop dead gorgeous and dripping with deco funk. It's just an amazing pen.

Here's an article David Nishimura did on them. http://www.vintagepens.com/Coronet.shtml

Wow, very cool and an interesting story!
Very rare and hard to come by, good for starters, solid 14kt gold,...
The Coronet name is intriguing, I see in the ad where it does say "Self-fitting point".

Now you'll be stuck trying to find a matching pencil?
Nearly LOL when I read where the ad says "...pencil you can sharpen with your thumb!"
Now that's an interesting advertising line, for a mechanical pencil.

Congrats!!!
Reads like a real winner, would love to one day see better pictures then the Bay-posted pics.

Congratulations!

I love gold pens, but to try to keep a direction in my collection I look only for the 20s Sheaffer's gold pens.

But they are waay expensive (and almost impossible to find here in EU)!

Diplo:

I have a small one (broken nib, though). If you ever come to Buenos Aires just let me know and we can share something, and might even trade it...

Rgds.

It's not gold but I did recently come into a sweet little Sterling Silver Sheaffer ring top with an amazing flexi #2 nib. It's going to ebay in a day or so. if your interested let me know & I'll send you a link when it's up.
