any one for a combo?

this is what i have:
red and black celluloid Eagle Fp and 1.1mm pencil combo. the nib is marked: Epenco new york and it's two tone (although the GP is wearing off).both, pecil and FPwork well!

next up, yellow/green celluloid Arnold Fp (with a tiny nib marked "signature 2") and .9 pencil. the Fp works great, but the pencil cone is hard to twist (it does work). this pen's gold plating is also wearing off the trim as well as the nib. got it for $4 USD a while back, plus shippig charges, so i can't complaint.

from these two the one i use regularly is the Eagle. i guess, because it's in better condition and also of the size, it fits more comfortably in my hand!

do you have anything like this?
there were a few companies that made these. which do you think made the best combo sets?

Your red one is eye-catching. I think I have seen these peculiar pen/pencil units made by Wearever as well, in a green marbled look.

Regards,

Aussie FP

Yup, you sure have. In the OS models there are black, white, green mottled, red mottled, grey mottled celluloid.

Yopu can tell an OS at a glance. On the barrel, there will be a brass ring above the pencil mech. this is where it unscrews for the pencil eraser. Standard size combo's dont have that. You can generally pick these up for a 10 spot or so. Great pens, huge plated nibs that write well. Not too bad for the price IMHO.

wassup guys?

i saw a black wearever pencil/pen combo a few days ago, but i got outbit and didn't notice in time... *mad*... anyways, yes the red one is very nice and both pen and pencil work well. thanx aussie.

one thing about the pencil: it won't take a whole stick... maybe half. i'm a bit disappointed about that.

Don't sweat missing out on the OS Black. You can score them for a $10 spot if you keep your eyes open.

The 1/2 stick is par for the course & is more than plenty. If you write so much that you use up a full 1/2 stick of lead in a sitting, then baby you write way too much & must have hands of iron! lol.

No clue where to get one that will fit. I get the big fat pink eraserrs & use my seal cutting kit. to cut one to size. I get the cutting kit from David Nishimura at Vintagepens.com in the tools area. They work great & are a nust have for any vacuum fil pens.

What i do after I get the basic shape cut out is to take my dremel tool & use the bit that has a 'screw/threaded' point. (used to hold felt buffing pads), screw it into the eraser & with some coarse sand paper turn it down to the exact size sortof a poor mans lathe.

Part of pen repair is being able to think outside of the box & come at problems from new directions. Honestly, thats one of the things I truly love about this hobby/my job. I really dig it when i come across something I've not yet experienced & have to figure out whats what & how to get it back in service.

I have a mottled green Wearever Pioneer fountain pen and mechanical pencil.

Well, my wife will have that as soon as I start re-sacing.
